Children take to Facebook in viral plea for a pet cat

Two young Newton, Massachusetts, children took to their mother’s Facebook page to make a case to their dad for a pet cat.

Apparently the children’s father, Dan Urbano, told his kids if they could get 1,000 Facebook ‘likes’ on a message or photo about their request for Urbano to get them a cat, he would get them a cat.

Remi Urbano, 7, and his baby sister, Evelyn Urbano, 1, wasted no time taking their dad up on that offer. The siblings made their plea on a dry erase board which read, “Hey Facebook! My sister and I really want a CAT. Our Papa promises WE Can Get ONE IF WE CAN GET 1,000 LIKES. PLEASE LIKE THIS PICTURE THANK YOU!”

The photo accompanied a message from the children’s mother, Marisa Urbano, saying, “Dan thinks there is NO way we can do this. I say there is. Help us out. We really want a cat named Hairy Pawturrr. If you can’t like, shares. Shares count too! Thanks so much everyone!!”

Fortunately, the power of cuteness prevailed and the Urbano children got their wish over the weekend when they adopted a girl kitty, whom they named “Hairetta L. Pawturr”, from the Gifford Cat Shelter in Brighton.

As of Tuesday, around 1 pm est, the photo had just over 114,000 ‘likes’.
