Note to all texting pranksters: be certain of who you are texting before you hit send.

Or at least be sure you aren’t messaging anyone in law enforcement.

One Arkansas teen learned the perils of random texting the hard way when she decided to send “I hid the body … Now what?” to an arbitrary phone number in her area code.

Of the 500,000 or so numbers that use the 479 code, she just happened to send her prank text to a police detective.

“Not knowing if the text was a prank or a legitimate text, the detective began an investigation into the source of the message,” a Rogers, Ark. Police Department press release said.

Authorities were not amused when they traced the number back to the 15-year-old girl, whose name has not been released. After questioning her and her father, she was left off with a warning.

The girl got the idea for the prank from a posting on the website Pinterest. The post read: “When I’m bored, I send a text to a random number saying “I hid the body… now what?”
