Chris Coleman from southern Illinois has been arrested in the murder of his wife and two children.
Police had said they believed one person was responsible in the killings of Sheri Coleman, 31, and her two sons, Garett, 11, and 9-year-old Gavin, who were found in their Columbia home on May 5.
Connor confirmed on Tuesday that all the victims were strangled with a ligature but he declined to discuss the type of cord used.
The Major Case Squad presented evidence in the case to Monroe County State’s Attorney Kris Reitz last week, but Reitz did not file charges pending the results of forensic tests. At the time authorities declined to name the suspect.

A boy accused of shooting and killing his father’s fiancee allegedly did so with a shotgun given to him by dad as a Christmas present. Stick with the Wii next time!
The 20-gauge shotgun an 11-year-old Pennsylvania boy used to blow away his father’s pregnant fiancée was a Christmas present from his gun-loving dad, cops and family revealed Sunday.
Little Jordan Brown was being trained as a hunter by his father, Chris Brown, in the woods behind their farmhouse.
The Browns come from a long line of hunting enthusiasts. Even the victim, 26-year-old Kenzie Houk, had encouraged Chris to buy the boy his own gun.
Jordan is being charged as an adult in the killing of his stepmother-to-be in her bed Friday morning in their Wampum, Pa., home. She was eight months pregnant.

The father of Heather D’Aoust, the 14-year-old who is accused murdering her mother with a hammer, said at a hearing that she asked him to kill her in the moments after the attack.
[James] D’Aoust said she then told him, “I killed Mom.”
“I said: ‘No, you didn’t. You can’t have killed Mom,’ ” D’Aoust testified.
The girl repeated it and then added, “I want you to kill me,” her father said.
His testimony in San Diego Superior Court came on the first day of a preliminary hearing, during which prosecutors presented evidence they believe supports their case against 15-year-old Heather Marie D’Aoust.
At the end of the hearing, Judge Michael Wellington will be asked to decide whether prosecutors presented enough evidence for the case to go to trial. The hearing is expected to resume today.

Dena Schlosser, the woman who cut off her baby’s arms in 2004, is being released and is being allowed to go into outpatient treatment.
She is slated to be released sometime within the next month, prosecutor Curtis Howard said today. The ruling was made on Thursday.
Ms. Schlosser severed her 10-month-old daughter’s arms with a kitchen knife in November 2004 because, she said, she wanted to give the baby to God.
In April 2006, State District Judge Chris Oldner found her not guilty by reason of insanity at her second murder trial. Her first trial ended in a hung jury.

A 2-year-old child in Bradenton, Florida who police say was beaten for over four hours and left in a coma has died.
Authorities say Dwight A. Baldwin, 21, beat the boy because he soiled himself.
Deputies say Baldwin will now be charged with murder.
Baldwin denies responsibility for a debilitating blow to the boy’s head, but admitted to investigators Monday afternoon that he struck the toddler more than 20 times with a belt and fly swatter on his back and buttocks, according to a Manatee Sheriff’s report.
Baldwin’s girlfriend, Audrey L. Lawrence, 25, told investigators she witnessed the beating and yelled at Baldwin once to stop, but did not call authorities.
Lawrence – who, with Baldwin, takes care of the boy because she says the toddler’s mother is a drug addict – also told detectives that this is not the first time Baldwin has struck the boy.

Awww, looks like Casey Anthony is screwed. A Grand Jury is convening next week which may bring down charges of murder or manslaughter. Perhaps little Caylee Anthony may see some justice served yet.
ORLANDO, FLA. — Casey Anthony could soon face a homicide charge in connection with the disappearance of her daughter, according to broadcast reports in Orlando.
The state attorney’s office plans to present its case next to a grand jury next week, according to the reports from Orlando TV station Local 6. From there, it will be the job of the grand jury to determine if the evidence is strong enough to warrant prosecution.
The reports indicate that it is not known if the state will seek murder or manslaughter charges.

Florida authorities had given Casey Anthony until 9:00 a.m. this morning to cooperate with them regarding the disappearance of her daughter Caylee in exchange for limited immunity, but Casey declined the offer.
Padilla said the focus is still on finding Caylee — alive or dead — a discovery that would significantly aid in the investigation.
“Obviously that would clear up a lot of questions that we have,” Padilla told FOXNews.com.
He declined to comment on which of the various theories, if any, had become the most prominent in the investigation. Detectives have been trying to determine whether Caylee died accidentally, was killed or was kidnapped, as her mother has claimed. Police have expressed serious doubts about the abduction story.
“The key is with the mother, with Casey,” Padilla said. “If there is a cover-up, it would be her — if there is. Right now she continues to not provide any information that is helpful to us.”

Apparently these teenagers picked the wrong vehicle to mess with.
Police said 16-year-old Garrett Burton was with at least one other teenage boy Saturday in the backyard of a home when someone shot him in the head just before 3 a.m. Police have no suspects.
The band at Westland High School, where Burton was a student, played the school’s alma mater in memory of him at Saturday night’s football game.

Whether or not Casey Anthony killed her own baby has yet to be proven, but surely her behavior is not one of a caring or concerned mother. Casey Anthony seems to only care about herself and all evidence so far would suggest that Casey Anthony only cares about herself and getting away with a tragic ending to an innocent girls life. It just didn’t have to be this way. Was this mother so jealous of the love and attention of a little toddler that she just couldn’t be bothered anymore? Such a sad situation.
Meanwhile, DNA tests have come back but have not been released to the public. Something strange is a brewin’ and MT has the feeling the Florida investigators know more than what has been released, hence the formal charges. They just need time to put a case together. Let’s pray that they do.
Casey Marie Anthony, 22, was charged with one felony and one misdemeanor offense, in addition to the child neglect charge she already faced. She will be arraigned on the criminal charges.
Also Tuesday, test results from DNA samples taken from a car driven by Anthony came in and were turned over to investigators.
The evidence was gathered from the trunk of a vehicle that Anthony was using when her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony vanished in mid-June.

If this doesn’t make your face hot and your blood boil and your stomach turn, not sure what will…
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Parents facing murder charges in the June death of their 2-year-old son restrained the toddler with duct tape while he stood naked in the corner of the closet, court documents allege.
An autopsy determined that Cortez Johnson died June 25 at University Hospital from blunt force trauma to his head. Prosecutors on Thursday charged the boy’s parents, Horace Johnson, 25, and Keyonda Lumpkin, 26, with second-degree murder. Court documents have also spelled her last name Lumpkins.
According to a probable cause statement, Johnson and Lumpkin blamed each other for the child’s injuries, which included severe burns on his face, neck, lip, arms and genitals; loose teeth; and deep cuts and ligature marks on his wrists.

The 25-year-old victim, Sandeela Kanwal, was wed in Pakistan in an arranged marriage. Police said Kanwal hadn’t seen her husband, who lives in Chicago, for months.
