A 12-year-old in Danville, Indiana has been charged after a gun he was showing to a friend fired and shot the boy.

The 12-year-old boy was charged Thursday in juvenile court with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, according to a news release from Danville police.

The boy was home alone with a 10-year-old neighbor after school Tuesday when he found a key and unlocked a safe in which his parents kept an unloaded gun, police said. Police think the boy loaded the gun and was showing it off to his friend when it accidentally discharged.

Police initially reported in error that the 12-year-old had shot himself.

Note to self: Do not hire Joshua White to babysit.

DECATUR, Ga. — Police have arrested a man after the boy he was watching apparently shot himself by accident.

Joshua White was baby-sitting his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son Monday and called 911 after the boy was wounded, DeKalb County police spokesman J.T. Ware said.

The boy was shot above the eye but is expected to survive, Ware said. Police believe the boy shot himself using White’s gun, Ware said.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) — A 63 year old woman from Pennsylvania was arrested on Sunday after attempting to enter Walt Disney World with a loaded handgun. Walt Disney World security personnel discovered a silver color, Beretta .32 caliber semi-automatic handgun during a routine safety check as the woman was attempting to enter the park with other family members.
