Anti-Obama shirt lands 5th grader a suspension

Posted September 23rd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.myfoxcolorado.com

A 5th grader in Aurora, Colorado has been suspended after he refused to change out of a homemade shirt that read “Obama — a terrorist’s best friend.”

The fifth grader at Aurora Frontier K-8 School wore it on a day when students were asked to wear red, white and blue to show their patriotism.

The boy’s father Dann Dalton describes himself as a “proud conservative” who has taken part in some controversial anti-abortion protests. Dalton says the school made a major mistake by suspending his son for wearing the shirt.

“It’s the public school system,” Dalton says. “Let’s be honest, it’s full of liberal loons.”

Attorneys for Jenkins in Tuesday’s settlement say the boy suffered cerebral palsy and mental retardation after the doctor unsuccessfully used a vacuum extractor device during his birth.

Sex offender goes back to prison for child porn

Posted April 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.dailyherald.com

A man in Aurora, Illinois who was previously convicted in 1999 on aggravated criminal sexual abuse has been sentenced back to prison for 13 years after police found an incredibly large stash of child pornography in his home. One perv down, one million to go.

Steven J. Ruby, 44, must serve about half his sentence before he is eligible for parole again, and also receives credit for 1,094 days in the Kane County jail, prosecutors said.

Ruby, formerly of the 200 block of South LaSalle Street, was convicted Feb. 22 of two counts of possession of child pornography.

On April 27, 2005, parole officers on a check at Ruby’s home found several sexually explicit photos of children in his bedroom and inside aluminum cooking trays in the refrigerator, prosecutors said.

A search of Ruby’s computer and compact discs also revealed about 3,500 additional images and more than 100 movies, several of children and infants engaged in sex acts, prosecutors said.

Student in wheelchair charged with assault

Posted April 24th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.9news.com

An Aurora, Colorado high school student with cerebral palsy is being hit with a number of charges because he allegedly ran over a girl’s feet with his wheelchair. The story doesn’t say if the girl suffered anything more than minor injuries — charging him with assault and battery seems a little extreme, doesn’t it?

Seventeen-year-old Joshua Martinez is accused of assault and battery and reckless endangerment for running over a girl’s toes in the hall.

The female student told the school nurse Martinez ran over her foot and her family wants to press charges.

Martinez says he does not remember the incident.

Witnesses told Aurora Police that Martinez drives his wheelchair very fast and bumps into people. He also sometimes rides up on two wheels.

Prosecutors said Jungels used the screen name “Big-al-43895″ when trading the pornography in chat rooms with titles such as “incest” and “daddy-daughter.”

Toddler dies after falling out of bunk bed

Posted November 12th, 2007 by minortopics | via www.chicagotribune.com

Who in their right mind puts a baby on the top bunk of a bunk bed? (Isn’t that screaming of something that may go terribly wrong?)

Who??

The death of a 2-year-old Aurora boy who fell from a bunk bed over the weekend most likely was an accident, officials said Monday.

Christopher Young suffered a head injury about 11 p.m. Saturday in his home in the 600 block of North Buell Avenue, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said. Ferrelli said the autopsy has been completed, but the manner of death is pending the police investigation.

Aurora Abortion clinic finally opens

Posted October 2nd, 2007 by minortopics | via www.suntimes.com

In a tennis match type of wins and losses for the anti-abortion clan, all the attempts at blocking the clinic’s opening finally subsided with an ultimate win for a Planned Parenthood clinic in Aurora, Illinois…

A Planned Parenthood clinic in Aurora that will offer abortion services is scheduled to open today after city officials late Monday issued an occupancy permit for the controversial medical center.

While the permit clears the way for the immediate opening of the 22,000-square-foot clinic, opponents vowed to continue their efforts to keep the center shuttered.

Abortion foes already have organized mass protests and prayer vigils near the clinic, which Planned Parenthood initially had expected to open last month.
