Toddler drowns and then comes back to life

Posted February 22nd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.dailybulletin.com

An 16 month old baby who had drowned in a backyard pool and declared brain dead and without a pulse, suddenly shocked doctors and family when he came back to life. This all happened while family was deliberating on whether or not to donate his organs. Medical experts believed him to be dead and today, he suffers no side effects from being dead.

Freeeeeaaaakkkay.

The baby was cold, blue and foaming at the mouth and nose, Ross said.

Doctors estimate Michael drowned 30 minutes before he arrived at the hospital. Michael arrived at the hospital in complete cardiopulmonary arrest, authorities said.

At the hospital, Avila was hysterical at the sight of her baby on life support. She was told the first 72 hours were critical and there was no guarantee Michael would make it.

His pulse finally returned after one hour and 10 minutes of using an oxygen bag to inflate his lungs and chest compressions to circulate his blood.

Young boys find WWII grenade relic

Posted February 17th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

See what happens when you encourage your kids to explore the great outdoors? They become regular “Indiana Joneses”.

PACE, Fla. — An 8-year-old boy and his friend found a live, World War II-era hand grenade while searching for buried treasure with a metal detector.

Sidney Mathis and his friend had found nails, bolts and a toy car by sweeping the detector over a field near their home Thursday. But it was their other find that alarmed Sidney’s father, Chris Mathis.

He arrived home Thursday to find the boys about to put the grenade into a bucket of water. Chris Mathis grabbed the grenade and dangled it outside the window of his sport utility vehicle as he drove away from the apartment complex.

British teen’s Tic Tac diet

Posted February 11th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.newkerala.com

No it’s not some sort of new fad diet, a mysterious disease causes 17-year-old Natalie Cooper to vomit after eating solids and the only thing she can hold down are the tiny Tic Tac mints. She has to receive all of her real nourishment through a feeding tube that passes a special formula directly into her stomach. We think Ms. Cooper has officially topped the kid that can only eat deer meat.

“[Mints] do give me a bit of energy, but I eat them mostly to get rid of hunger. It is psychological,” the Mirror quoted Natalie, as saying.

“When they started to come back up, I started reducing the size. I went from Trebor Extra Strong Mints to Polos and ended up with Tic Tacs,” she added.

Her condition, which she has had all her life, has left medics puzzled.

Hey Mom! My head is stuck in the washer!

Posted February 6th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.myfoxcleveland.com

A 4 year old boy found himself in a very precarious situation when he went and got his little head stuck in the washer machine. His mother, who couldn’t pry the youngster’s head out, finally called the fire department who dismantled the machine and released the 4 year old boy to his crazy antics.

Their 4-year-old son became trapped inside their washing machine.

At first Jennifer Hasseman says she thought little Donivan was just playing, “My oldest son came up to me and said ‘Mom Donivan’s head is stuck in the washer’.”

Jennifer and her husband tried to free Donivan using a crow bar, but she says, “his one leg was bent and his back was compressed against the agitator.”

Boy found hanging from a coat hook at school

Posted February 1st, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A 7 year old boy is now in critical condition after being found unconscious, hanging by his shirt on a coat hook. A teacher found him, but doesn’t know how long he had been hanging there. It is unclear whether this was a freakish accident or if the boy was the victim of harassment and bullying.

AUSTIN, Texas — A 7-year-old boy is in critical condition after being found hanging by his shirt collar from a clothing hook in a charter school’s dressing room, and police tried to determine Thursday whether it was an attack or an accident.

The shirt collar cut off the boy’s oxygen, and he was unconscious when a teacher found him Wednesday, said police Lt. Mark Spangler. He was in critical condition at a hospital Thursday.

Town in England plagued with teen suicides

Posted January 26th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.guardian.co.uk

Seven suicides, with a few botched attempts leaves people wondering, what is going on this town that is influencing teenagers to take their own lives?

A special taskforce began its inquiry into the recent suicides in Bridgend, south Wales, today, as it emerged that another teenager attempted to hang herself last week.

The taskforce, which includes police, children’s services and mental health experts, is examining dozens of apparently copycat suicides by young people in Bridgend since 2004.

The most recent was the death of Natasha Randall, 17, who was found hanged in a bedroom at her home in Blaengarw last Thursday.

The next day, Leah Phillips, one of Randall’s 15-year-old schoolfriends, was found hanging at her home in Pontycymmer. The girl’s stepfather said he had cut her down and given her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. She survived and is now recovering at home.

Stillborn baby shows up at dry cleaners

Posted January 23rd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A baby was tossed out with the laundry, by accident and the parents are pissed. Rightfully so.

Kourtney McGee of Cleburne went to Huguley in July because she was bleeding in her second trimester, then gave birth to Jacob Dwayne Robinson. Staff told McGee and Milburn “Pete” Robinson of Alvarado, the baby’s father, that the body would be taken the morgue.

But when the funeral director arrived, he was told the body could not be found. The baby’s body was not refrigerated when it got to the morgue but instead was sent to a commercial cleaner with the laundry, according to the suit.

The lawsuit contends Huguley Memorial Medical Center breached its duty to care for, handle, maintain and/or prepare for burial. The lawsuit alleges negligence, which is the failure to extend ordinary care, and gross negligence, which shows either reckless conduct or conscious disregard for the family’s rights.

Glue boy gets freed from his bed

Posted January 8th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.guardian.co.uk

Apparently this UK boy “don’t need no education”. Given that his drastic measures included gluing himself to his bed, I’d argue that he really does need an education. At 10 years old, he’s obviously not the sharpest pencil in the box.

A 10-year-old Mexican boy was so determined not to return to school after the Christmas holiday that he glued his hand to his bed.

Sandra Palacios spent nearly two hours on Monday morning trying to free her son Diego’s hand with water, oil and nail polish remover before calling the authorities in the northern city of Monterrey, said police chief Jorge Camacho.

Whoa!

A 12 year old Connecticut boy reels in a shark using his previous catch of the day. Not just any shark either. A 551 lb. shark!

Boat Captain Tony Rizzo says the Bull Shark weighed in at 551 pounds, and appears to have set a record. “I got home and one of the fellows called me from the taxidermy and said this is the biggest shark, bull shark they have ever seen.”

Aidan’s mother says her son got all of [sic] attention after making the big catch. “There were probably 50 to 75 people watching this and there were all sorts of teenage girls asking questions about it, so he was really happy about that.”

Goooooodbyyyyye Mom. I’ll write soooooon.

Posted December 11th, 2007 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

Poor little diddle.

A toddler got whisked away, down an airport conveyor belt on an adventure that lead her down 4 miles of tunnels and possibly through an Xray machine.

A two-year-old girl who wandered off in an airport suffered cuts and bruises after she was whisked into a baggage conveyor belt system.

The toddler walked through an empty check-in desk at Manchester Airport and hopped on to the luggage machine.

She was then swept down the four-mile long tunnel of the conveyor system and trapped before being rescued by an engineer.

A source said her clothes had been torn but she only needed hospital treatment for cuts and bruises. It was not known if she had passed through an X-ray machine but she was discovered in the first of three tiers of the baggage system.

Hello, Mr. President? Hold my calls!

Posted December 10th, 2007 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A teenager from Iceland dials into a super, secret, deep, deep undercover hotline right into President Bush’s office and gets in super, secret, deep, deep undercover trouble.

I thought it was funny that the teen was being cheered by fellow Icelanders because ‘Bush is not popular there’. Why? What does Bush have to do with Iceland at all??? What significant impact does any president have on Iceland??

When Vífill Atlason, a 16-year-old high school student from Iceland, decided to call the White House, he could not imagine the kind of publicity it would bring.

Introducing himself as Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, the actual president of Iceland, Atlason found President George W. Bush’s allegedly secret telephone number and phoned, requesting a private meeting with him.

“I just wanted to talk to him, have a chat, invite him to Iceland and see what he’d say,” Vífill told ABC News.
