Boy trapped in balloon may have fallen out

Posted October 15th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A 6 year old Colorado boy, identified as Falcon Heene, was reported to have crawled into a large mylar balloon and floated away, however, when the balloon finally landed, the boy was nowhere to be found.

The area of the balloon he apparently crawled into was reportedly unlocked and authorities now believe the boy may have fallen out mid-air. His survival is unlikely.

Noteworthy as well, the boy appeared on an episode of “Wife Swap”, a reality television show where mothers switch families for a few days to see how moms can influence ingrained family dynamics.

DEVELOPING: A homemade balloon slowly descended in a Colorado field Thursday, but the fate of a 6-year-old boy believed to be inside was not known, authorities said.

The bizarre scene played out live on television and prompted fears that the flying saucer-shaped balloon would crash with the young child inside.

UPDATE: BOY FOUND SAFE

Jaycee Lee Dugard found after 18 years

Posted August 28th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.telegraph.co.uk

Like a scene straight out of a made-for-Lifetime movie, Jaycee Lee Dugard, who was kidnapped at 11-years-old back in 1991, walked into a police station yesterday and identified herself.

“I had personally given up hope,” her stepfather Carl Probyn told ABC News. “I had just hoped for a recovery [of a body]… I’ve actually won the lotto.”

He added: “She sounds like she’s okay. She had a conversation with my wife and she remembers things. I hope she’s been well treated this entire 18 years.”

Her mother Terry Probyn and 19-year-old half-sister Shayna were flying from their home in southern California to be reunited with the woman who California authorities say is their long-lost relative.

Although the details of Miss Dugard’s re-emergence are not yet clear, it is understood that Phillip Craig Garrido, 58, and Nancy Garrido, 55, are now in custody. Police were also said to be searching a home in Antioch, a suburb of San Francisco.

Mom leaves with pedophile boyfriend and toddler

Posted June 10th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.galioninquirer.com

Candace K. Watson, who’s apparently no rocket scientist, decided that her pedophile boyfriend would be a great person for her and her 3 year old baby daughter to take off with into seclusion.

On Nancy Grace last night, the missing toddler’s Grandmother admitted that her daughter was previously addicted to crystal meth but didn’t know if she was still using.

Niiiiiiice.

Obviously this baby is in grave danger and who knows what the mother will let this pedophile do to her for drugs or money.

Wearing a white t-shirt with the Disney figure Minnie Mouse on the front and light purple shorts that read “Sweet” on their front, Haylee Elizabeth Jade Donathan, 3, was last seen on May 28, 2009. Haylee is 37 pounds, 2’5” tall, brown shoulder-length hair and, blue eyes.

Both Haylee and her mother, Candace K. Watson, 24, were in the company of a an individual now wanted by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s Adult Parole Authority for violating the conditon of his supervision, that individual, Watson’s boyfriend, is Robbi Doug-las Potter, 27.

Potter was admitted to prison in December of 2006 for a third-degree felony conviction for sexual battery of a minor, an incident that occured here in Crawford County.

Mom of missing 5 year old dated and befriended sex offenders

Posted May 30th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

What mother in her right mind would think it’s a good idea to sleep with pedophiles and have them hang out with their preschool aged child? This may be a clue as to how much she cared for the little girl. Obviously the mom cares more about herself and probably knows more than she’s letting on. In my opinion, whatever happened to that poor baby, the sex offenders should get at the very least life and the mother should be charged with being an accomplice. What did she think would happen when she offered up her daughter to child rapists to be a “father figure”? Moron!!!

MONROE, Mich. — Investigators continue to search for a missing 5-year-old girl whose mother spoke of a sex offender considered a person of interest in the case as a “father figure” to her daughter, who disappeared five days ago.

Police found a blood-stained towel, shorts and a photo of a girl similar to Nevaeh Buchanan during a search of the motel room where 36-year-old George Kennedy, a registered sex offender, was staying Thursday. Kennedy is a longtime acquaintance of the girl’s mother, Jennifer Buchanan.

Kidnapped mother and daughter a hoax

Posted May 27th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

UPDATE: Apparently this mother is a big con artist

A Philadelphia mother and 9 year old daughter were kidnapped from their car and making the case even more bizarre, the mother called from the trunk of the car in which her and her daughter were put into, calling 911 to plead for help.

Police say they’ve found the silver SUV of a Pennsylvania woman and her young daughter who allegedly were kidnapped in broad daylight and called 911 from the trunk of a car.

There was still no sign of Bonnie Sweeten, 38, of Feasterville, Pa., or 9-year-old Julia Rakoczy Wednesday after the pre-dawn discovery of their vehicle in the Center City section of Philadelphia. A massive manhunt for the pair was under way.

Posted May 19th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.abcnews.go.com

An abducted child story has a happy ending for once.

Two weeks after he was kidnapped at gunpoint by two men who broke into his family’s San Bernardino, Calif., home, 3-year-old Briant Rodriguez today was back safe and sound with his family.

“It was emotional for everyone,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Doug Hubbard said. “Tears even came to Briant’s eyes. It was a beautiful thing.”

The little boy was none the worse for wear, police said — except the kidnappers had cut off his long curly hair, shaving his head.

Albuquerque police search for boy’s relatives

Posted May 18th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

Albuquerque authorities are combing the area trying to find the relatives of a boy found buried in a city park.

“We’re canvassing the entire area once again to see if there’s the possibility that anyone saw something who wasn’t watching the news,” Albuquerque police spokesman John Walsh said Monday.

Despite intense media coverage of the case, no one has stepped forward to identify the boy, who was 3 to 5 years old. A preliminary autopsy Saturday also yielded no clues to how the boy died.

Though the boy’s family hasn’t come forward, the community has stepped in with spiritual and financial support for the child.

Family dog saves toddler

Posted May 11th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.kspr.com

Doctors are crediting the family dog for saving the life of a toddler that wandered off from his home.

Three-year old Joshua Childers was all smiles this weekend as he left the hospital in Crystal City. Doctors say he had hypothermia, scratches and bug bites from his “hike” in the Mark Twain National Forest. They now think the 120-pound family dog helped keep the boy safe and warm.

“One of our initial concerns was how could a 35-pound child could stay alive in forty degree weather in the rain for two nights and three days,” said Steven Crawford, Childer’s doctor. “That may be the answer, and he was telling about being with the dog at night.”

Police continue search for missing boy

Posted May 6th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.cnn.com

Investigators are still looking for a 3-year-old boy who was kidnapped during a home invasion, and police are baffled that there aren’t any clues or ransom demands for the boy.

Two men broke into a house in the San Bernadino area on Sunday and tied up the boy, Briant Rodriguez, his mother and other siblings.

They ransacked the house and fled with the boy, authorities said.

One of the children freed himself and untied the rest of the family, CNN affiliate KTLA reported. The boy’s father was at work at the time, KTLA said.

An Amber Alert was issued late Sunday. Sheriff’s deputies in San Bernadino County released composite sketches of the suspects during a news conference on Tuesday.

According to court papers, the boy vanished Monday when his parents looked away briefly to dislodge a rock from his mother’s walking cast. They began to search immediately and his mother glimpsed him walking hand in hand with a strange man. She screamed, the man dropped the boy’s hand and the child began running back to his mother.

Police say Steiner told them the boy grabbed his hand as he was walking by.

UPDATE: Tracy girl found

An 8 year old, California girl has been missing since last Friday — last seen at the next door neighbors, playing with the neighbor children.

A child as young as 8 who goes missing is usually the result of a pedophile abduction. Let’s hope this little girl is found alive.

TRACY, Calif. — Police are looking for a missing 8-year-old girl in the largest missing person search Tracy has seen in at least a decade.

The FBI has also been involved in the search which started at 8:15 p.m. Friday night, four hours after the little girl was last seen in the mobile home park where she lives.

Missing Lancaster girl found dead

Posted March 20th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.latimes.com

The body of an 18-month-old reported abducted by her mother has been found, causing the mother to change her story. She now has told police that the baby’s death was an accident.

Emma Leigh Barker’s remains were found by investigators after they determined there “were several inconsistencies” with her mother’s story, authorities said. The girl’s body was found near Roxford Street and El Dorado Avenue, concealed by deep overgrown brush alongside a fence.

Authorities said it appeared the girl’s 25-pound body had been dumped sometime over the last 24 hours and showed no visible signs of trauma.

The girl’s mother, Stacy Barker, 20, initially told detectives that she was at a Lancaster park next to the Antelope Valley Freeway about 5 p.m. and had placed Emma in her car seat. The mother said she was “struck from behind by an unknown assailant” and knocked unconscious, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Pat Nelson said.
