A 10-year-old Hackleburg, Alabama boy with Down Syndrome wandered from his home on Tuesday afternoon. Kyle Camp was watching television around 4:30PM on Tuesday. Soon after, his family found him to be missing.

The area around Kyle’s house is heavily wooded. His family searched for him until 7:00PM Tuesday evening before calling the police. There was an amazing amount of volunteer support in rescue efforts. According to WAFF TV in Alabama, there were 150 volunteers searching at one time.

Kyle was discovered by a volunteer around 9:30AM on Wednesday morning. Rescuer Jamie Swinney noticed the family dog barking for her puppies. He followed the mother dog through dense brush along a creek bed. There, he discovered Kyle with the puppies.

Swinney told WAFF, “I heard the dogs barking again and followed him down there and started hollering for the puppies and I hollered for him and he hollered back. He was in the creek about a half a mile over the ridge. I heard the dogs barking again and followed him down there and started hollering for the puppies and I hollered for him and he hollered back. Kyle was found to be in good health despite not having shoes, sporting a few scratches, and being wet. The police believe that the puppies deserve the credit for cuddling and keeping Kyle warm throughout the ordeal.

Rosemarie Camp is very grateful that Kyle has been found. She explained to WAFF, “It’s the most happy feeling in the world, just realizing that I just got a little tiny taste of what so many parents have went through. I’m just so fortunate. CBS42 in Alabama reports that Kyle may have been first led astray by following the wandering puppies.

Kyle was given a special device on Thursday that helps to track people who are prone to wandering.

Maybe you ought to put those tracking devices on the puppies also. Who does not watch kids and pups?
