The newest episode of Toddlers & Tiaras follows little Emma, who at just 3-years-old, will be performing in her first pair of high heels.
The mini-beauty queen from Raymond, Mississippi, is told by her mother to “strut, girl, strut” as she carefully stumbles through her first steps on her carpeted bedroom floor.
The girl’s mother, Hope, who was Mrs. Mississippi United States 2011, said:
“Seeing her look older than what she is upsets me a little bit…
‘But then again, it’s not permanent. The make up can wash off, the hair can be washed, and she goes back to being my little three-year-old girl.”
Hope says her daughter will be wearing the heels with her “outfit of choice” as she competes for the Grand Supreme title at a Mississippi luau-themed pageant and the shoes will be paired with a white halterneck dress for what she described as a tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death.
The significance of the anniversary seems to be lost on little Emma, who when asked what she wants to wear, tells her mother simply, “a dress.”
