Police arrested three Hesperia, California, Ranchero Middle School students after they allegedly attempted to kill the mother of one of the teens.
Police responded after a call from the mother after she had been attacked in her bed on Tuesday morning and found her 13-year-old daughter to be missing from the home.
According to authorities, an investigation revealed that the victim’s daughter had not been kidnapped, and that the teen had actually conspired with two of her friends to murder her mother.
Investigators say that their motive to kill the mother was because they didn’t like her house rules or the curfew she had imposed on her daughter.
The daughter and her two accomplices, a 14-year-old male and a 14-year-old female, were arrested Tuesday afternoon for attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and burglary.
“They tried a few methods to try to kill the victim,” according to Susan Rose, spokeswoman for the Hesperia police station, reports the Victorville Daily Press.
The three teenagers “conspired, formulated a plan and attempted to kill” the mother, Rose said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities have not revealed the nature of the mother’s injuries, but say that she was not seriously hurt.
All three of the teens were booked into the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center in Apple Valley.
