Disturbing allegations of child torture
A 15-year-old Wisconsin girl was rescued after someone noticed the girl walking barefoot several blocks from her home in her pajamas. Police learned of the alleged torture the nearly starved girl endured since 2006 after they picked up the girl in the early part of last week.
The teen alleges her father and step-mother locked her in the basement and forced her to drink her own urine and eat her own feces. The girl was found weighing only 70 lbs. and had not yet reached puberty due to her years of malnutrition and alleged mistreatment. The girl also told police that she was imprisoned in the family’s basement and if she tried to go upstairs, an alarm would go off. She said she survived by eating things off the floor, finding things in the laundry room, and occasionally, rummaging through the garbage. The basement is also without a bathroom.
The girls father, Chad G. Chritton, age-40, and step-mother, Melinda J. Drabek-Chritton, age-42, were arrested on suspicion of child abuse last Friday.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, a physician who examined the victim said the girl suffered from “serial torture”.
The family reportedly lived in a new construction ‘Habitat for Humanity’ home for which the step-mother obtained by claiming to be a single mother of two boys. Drabek-Chritton has only one son living with her, 18-year-old Joshua Drabek. He was arrested on probation violation after his mother and step-father were arrested. Habitat says there was never any mention a daughter on their application.
Drabek-Chritton told police that the girl was not in school because she was ‘home-schooling’.
The girl claimed that her step-mother threatened to throw her down the stairs and hurt or kill her after she failed to clean fast enough during a brief time she was allowed upstairs recently. She says that’s why she was trying to flee her home, she was afraid for her life, when the police found her.
