Mom of autistic boy banned from church continues fight
Carol Race, who was issued a restraining order after she refused to stop bringing her autistic son Adam to church, plead not guilty to charges she violated said order. Race has also started a website to inform other families with special needs children that may also have issues bringing them to church. Race was initially asked to not attend the church any longer because they felt her son was a danger to other parishioners.
Race initially ignored the order and was ticketed after attending church with Adam on Mother’s Day. Lately, she’s been attending a neighboring church, while friends with autistic children have taken her family’s pew in St. Joseph’s to show support.
The case sparked a national media blitz, including a spot on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” which was set in motion by Race and her support group of families with special-needs children.
Race hopes the new website, www.project-adams-pew.org, will prompt churches across the country to reserve a pew “for families that might need a special welcome.”

I am a mother of a 3yr old with autisum and level 1 behaviors, and it’s hard to take him any where, because of his behaviors. The sad thing though is that they need the socialization in order to help them grow and cope with the world a little better, but the world isn’t willing to help with certian disabilites.People are to selfish and would reather ridacule and put someone down, other then help with the problem. I also understand the safety of others, but if those are true christien people they would know god put him in their lives for a reason, and they should be helping insted of makeing it worse. What ever happend to it takes a village to raise a child?

You are so right Crystal,
When socity can not or will not accept the disabled in their domain its really a hurtful situation.
The true christian , those who care, love, honor God, Jesus, accepts all who are disabled, healthy, poor, rich, etc.
The ones who only make believe they do all these things are only fakes. I don’t know why they are this way, only the christians can tell you the answer to that.
Mrs. Race was accepted into a church that accepts her and her boy was my understanding.

? the church had a restraining order ? wow, a bit extreme- but at that point isn’t she more like a stalker continuing to show up outside his victims house refusing to leave her alone in violation of that order? why would anyone want to go to a church where you’re not wanted? maybe the kid was hitting people? screaming? does anyone know the whole story before they judge automatically?
