A 10-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault in Houston, Texas. The rape charge stemmed from a game of “doctor” back in April in which a neighbor claims she saw the girl inappropriately touching a 4-year-old boy, according to a Wednesday report by Fox Houston News.

The girl, whose identity has not been revealed because she’s a minor, was only 9-years-old at the time of the incident, however, her mother claims the girl was treated like a hardened criminal and rapist. The girl’s mother said the youngster was held for four nights in a juvenile center, which is a type of jail for minors.

The girl’s mother also claims her daughter was detained and questioned and she was not allowed to sit in on the interview. She says the whole incident has traumatized her daughter.

The accused girl told Fox, “I was crying and they took me to the car and I didn’t want to get in and I was crying and I was moving and trying not to get in the police car and my Mom told me to calm down.”

The girl’s mother said that her daughter was told if she didn’t tell the officers what they wanted to hear, she would be sent to juvenile detention. She also said she’s not allowed to tell her daughter’s side of the story because of the pending court case, which is set for October.

“It’s a nightmare even having to go through something like this because that’s my baby, that’s my baby and just the thought of her going through something like this it hurts me,” said the girl’s mom.

A spokesperson for the family, Quanell X, said that the incident was nothing more than inappropriate horse-play. He said he’s shocked that a child this young would be accused of such a serious crime.
