A Texas first grade teacher at a private school in Humble is being accused of inappropriately touching one of her students, but claims the charge is false because she doesn’t like black people.
The 7-year-old accuser is believed to be African American.
The teacher, Irene Esther Stokes, 61, was charged with child indecency on April 10 after she failed a polygraph test.
Court records indicate that Stokes denied the allegations, telling police she doesn’t like black students because she was prejudiced. She also said that she doesn’t like the plaintiff and made a conscientious effort to have “very little to no interaction” with her.
The young student also alleged that Stokes punished the girl after she objected to Stokes touching her on her “private parts”, by making her stand in the hallway by herself, denying her lunch and preventing her from taking a test.
According to the Houston Chronicle, school records corroborate the girl’s story, showing she ate breakfast but did not eat lunch on March 1, the day of the alleged incident.
Stokes has subsequently been fired from the Northwest Preparatory Academy Charter School in Texas after the school conducted their own investigation and determined Stokes acted inappropriately. Stokes is currently out of jail after posting $10,000 bail.
