Mother allegedly beat toddler son with sippy cup

Heather Baugh, 28, arrested for allegedly body slamming toddler and beating him with sippy cup. Mug shot via Warren County Jail.

A Warrenton, Mo., mother was arrested  and charged with child abuse after police said say she hit her son over the head with a sippy cup and frequently knocked  him to the ground, according to a news report on Tuesday from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Heather R. Baugh, 28, told police that an abrasion to her 3-year-old son’s head may have been caused by Baugh hitting him with a sippy cup. She also allegedly confessed to intentionally running into the tot in the hallway and knocking him down.

Baugh explained that the boy would sometimes hit the side of the doors when she would allegedly body slam the baby. She also reportedly told police that she would often spank her son aggressively on a regular basis.

An investigation into Baugh’s history revealed that at least six calls were made over the last 12 months to child abuse lines about the boy’s treatment. In November, the toddler was taken to the hospital where medical staff documented severe bruising to the child’s shoulders, face, ears, groin, chest, spine, shoulders and head.

Baugh is currently being held on $10,000 bond.
