Palace officials have confirmed on Monday that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, 30-years-old, is pregnant.

The Kansas City Star reports that the British royal has been suffering from a severe bout of morning sickness which has landed her in a London hospital.

Prince William, the older son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, is his father’s successor to the throne. Regardless of whether the child is a boy or a girl, he or she will likely hold the title of King or Queen someday. It has been speculated that William’s father, who is 64-years-old, may never realize the title of King, potentially turning the reigns over to his son William, 30-years-old, because of his age.

Queen Elizabeth II, 86-years-old, of the United Kingdom is the current constitutional monarch of  16 sovereign states and Supreme Governor of the Church of England. She has held the title of Queen since Feb. 6, 1952.
