Lamont Andre Cummings was babysitting his girlfriend’s 5-month-old daughter last Thursday when he allegedly robbed a Lilburn, Georgia home.

Cummings is accused of leaving the infant in a car while he robbed a home in broad daylight, stealing electronics and a rifle. Authorities were alerted to the situation when Bill Wannamaiger, the victims’ neighbor, saw a suspicious person carrying a gun case from the home and called the police.

Wannamaiger told WSB-TV Atlanta, “I walked down to the street, wrote his tag number down and called 911.” When he made the call, Wannamaiger did not know that the 5-month-old was in the car.

The police were able to locate Cumming’s red Chrysler Pacifica in the area. However, when they attempted to pull him over, he fled, leaving the 5-month-old girl in the car.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Cummings was arrested in his apartment complex. Police revealed the Cummings has confessed.

The suspect has previously been jailed for burglary. 34-year-old Cummings currently faces a number of charges including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless driving, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, fleeing, driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of a weapon during a crime, and child cruelty.
