A Marion, Ohio man was reportedly shot in his side by his toddler while sleeping on his couch on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the victim, Walter J. Call III, 24, had fallen asleep on this sofa when his 3-year-old son found a loaded gun laying around the house, picked it up and accidentally fired the gun. The police report states that several guns were left within reach of two children who were inside the home at the time. Marion Police say they removed a .22 caliber rife and two shotguns from the home. Call’s other child, a 5-year-old female, was also at home when the shooting occured.

Call is currently listed in stable condition according to The Columbus Dispatch. Marion Police are also taking the case to a grand jury in effort to charge Call with a felony charge of child endangerment for failing to have his guns locked up and out of reach of children.

Call’s children are currently in the custody of family members while charges are pending.
