An 8-month-old baby boy was mauled to death on Thursday in his Chula Vista home. Police say they responded to a call about dogs attacking a baby and arrived to the home to find a woman holding a severely injured baby. The baby was taken to a nearby children’s hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Three pit bull terrier dogs were at the home at the time of the attack. Police are still investigating how many of the three dogs were involved in the fatal attack. All three dogs have been placed with animal control and my be euthanized.
Lt. Larry Nesbit from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department described the dogs as “aggressive” and needing restraint.
Police are also trying to find out if the dogs belonged to the residents of the home or if they were the neighbors dogs. Four people are being questioned in connection with the dog mauling.
