Police in High Point, North Carolina are looking for two men they say stole a tan Honda Accord from a Food Lion parking lot around 3 p.m. on Monday and drove off with a 1-year-old and 3-year-old inside.

When the thieves noticed the children in the car, they pulled over and dropped them off at a local daycare, Fairfield Enrichment Center, about two miles away.

According to the director of the daycare, the parents of the children told her that they were at the grocery store to buy a birthday cake for their 1-year-old and an adult relative was in the car with the children when the thieves approached them.

Police have not indicated whether any weapons were displayed.

Just minutes before the robbery, there were two homeless men panhandling in the parking lot. Detectives believe they may have been the same men who drove off with the vehicle. The car has 18-inch rims with a star in the middle. The license plate number is ACH-7189.

The two men were described as being white and in their 40s.

Please contact High Point police if you have any information that could help the investigation.
