Police in Troy, Ill., went on red alert after a stranger gave a boy five bucks.

A fifth-grader was waiting for the school bus on Friday morning in the southwestern Illinois town, when a man approached him, handed him a five dollar bill, and walked off.

According to the Belleville News Democrat, now officers are on the lookout for the man, who they say was wearing a plaid shirt and shorts, to find out his intent.

The person who had decided the incident was worthy of a call to police was unreported.

Troy Police are asking anybody with further information about the benevolent money man to call them at 618-667-6731.
