Chicago Police credit a 9-year-old boy with taking his 6-year-old brother out of harm’s way when he picked him up and ran away from a man who tried to lure the two boys into his car Wednesday afternoon in the Logan Square neighborhood.

According to police, the man approached the two about 2:45 p.m. and said, “Hey you, do you want to come to my house to play Xbox?”

Police said the two refused, but the man proceeded to get out of his silver 4-door Toyota-type car. At that time, the older boy picked up his brother and ran away.

The man was described by police as white, between 20 and 30 years old, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9, and weighing from 150 to 180 pounds. Police said he had short black hair, a small goatee, blue eyes and a pimple in the middle of his forehead. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black jacket, possibly a blue-collared shirt, blue jeans and white Nike shoes.

Police are requesting that anyone with information about the incident call the Grand Central Area detectives at (312) 746-8365.
