Cops: Mom drunk at school pickup

Charged with DUI

Heather Brodeur

The next time somebody irritates you in the school pickup lane, at least be grateful they aren’t drunk.

Police arrested Heather Brodeur, 33, at the Suntree Elementary School in Melbourne, Florida, after they say she drove through a “bus-only” lane before hitting a gate with her car, jumped a curb, and went the wrong way through an exit before finally reaching the student pickup zone. Brodeur was at the school to pick up her daughter.

Fortunately, according to investigators no students were involved, and there were no injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Brodeur was charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI with property damage, one misdemeanor count of DUI, and was ticketed for careless driving.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that this isn’t Brodeur’s first run-in with the law regarding her driving. In July 2010, she was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, two counts of DUI vehicle property damage or personal injury, tickets for careless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road, and to top matters off, a felony possession of methadone and buprenorphine.
