Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders' wife learned of divorce online

On Tuesday, Pilar Biggers-Sanders, the wife of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, said she found out about his decision to end their marriage when she read it on the internet.

This Sanders’ second marriage, having previously married to Carolyn Chambers, with whom he fathered two children.

Larry Friedman, the lawyer for Pilar Biggers-Sanders,  told TMZ she was “heartbroken and surprised” when she learned of Deion’s decision.

Friedman said, “Pilar’s sole focus and top priority for the last twelve and a half years has been her marriage and children…Based on recent discoveries, [Pilar] now realizes that Deion did not view their family the same way.”

Friedman declined to elaborate on what “discoveries” he was referring to.

The lawyer said that no divorce settlement had been negotiated between Biggers-Sanders and her 44-year-old husband. He also said that she intended to protect herself and their three children.

Biggers-Sanders said she was “confident that he will come to his senses and return to his family as he has in the past.”

Sanders’ announcement came on Dec. 17 in a statement to an entertainment website, saying, “Pilar and I have decided to end our marriage and move on to the next phase of our individual lives with mutual respect.

Sanders is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and has won Super Bowls with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.He was also a baseball player for several years.
