Police report that a 3-year-old boy was stabbed to death and his mother injured in an apparent domestic incident with the boy’s father on the West Side of Chicago Friday morning.
Police said the boy was pronounced dead and his mother was taken to a local hospital, where she remained Friday night. The man who stabbed them is believed to be the boy’s father. He may have jumped from a second-story window to elude officers, but police now have him in custody.
The boy, identified as Jaivon Sandifer, 3, of Chicago, was pronounced at 12:18 p.m. at Stroger Hospital of Cook County, according to the medical examiner’s office. Neighbors claimed the boy’s name was actually Jaivon Jefferson, and his mother’s name is Margaret Jefferson, but Police could not immediately confirm that information.
