VALPARAISO, Ind. — According to police an 11-year-old boy was bitten on the hand by an alligator at an amusement park in northern Indiana. An unidentified man had apparently lifted the 2 foot long reptile from it’s enclosure and invited nearby children to pet it.
The bite Ryan Strand of Concord, North Carolina, received to one his fingers Sunday reportedly wasn’t serious, according to the Post-Tribune of Merrillville. The boy’s mother, Donna Strand, told reporters that she thought the unidentified man holding the alligator worked for the amusement park.
Police say the man fled the scene after the biting incident in a pickup truck with a woman and four children. Police are seeking him for questioning.
The park, called Zao Island, is a small family entertainment center located in Valparaiso that includes go-karts and mini golf as well as the live alligators
