Drew Hall, 13, was knocked unconscious and received a broken collarbone when a humpback whale hit the 17 foot dinghy he and his family were fishing on off Australia’s coast with its tail.
Hall says he and his parents were fishing Sunday morning off the north coast of New South Wales state when the whale breached near their dinghy. He said he did not see the tail coming when it crashed down on the boat, smashing its canopy.
Karen Hall, Drew’s mother, said she saw her son knocked to the floor and thought he had been killed. The boy was treated at a hospital for a concussion and a broken collarbone. He was released Sunday afternoon.
