Kimberly Trenor, the woman who beat her daughter Riley — known as “Baby Grace” — to death has given birth to a son while behind bars. The court is now trying to decide who gets custody of the child. Amazingly, the father of the boy, Royce Clyde Zeigler — also indicted in Riley’s murder, is refusing to relinquish his parental rights to the baby. Hey, you did that the moment you laid your hands on that little girl, you piece of shit.
Child Protective Services, which assumed emergency custody of the newborn Friday morning, must now ask a judge to revoke Zeigler’s parental rights at a hearing Monday in Houston, said Estella Olguin, a CPS spokeswoman.
The [adoptive] couple in Dallas have already undergone background checks, Olguin said, and CPS would attempt to interview them before Monday’s hearing so they can take immediate custody if the judge so orders.
If the judge does not end Zeigler’s parental rights, the child will be placed in foster care, she said. The judge could assign a child advocate to recommend the child’s best interest, Olguin said.
CPS would not have been involved had Zeigler signed the adoption papers, Olguin said.

A third person is set to go on trial in a sick case where children as young as five were given “silly pills” and made to perform sex shows.
Patrick Kelly, 41, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, tampering with physical evidence and engaging in organized criminal activity.
In all, six adults have been charged in connection with the case, including a parent of the three siblings involved.
Jurors this year deliberated less than five minutes before returning guilty verdicts against the first two defendants, who were accused of grooming the kids for sex shows in “kindergarten” classes and passing off Vicodin as “silly pills” to help the children perform.
Jamie Pittman and Shauntel Mayo were sentenced to life in prison. Kelly also faces a life sentence if convicted, and Smith County prosecutors hope for another swift verdict.

Here we go again. If, as pit bull advocates say, it’s the dog owners not the breed, can we at least start locking up the assholes that have these vicious dogs around children?
The 5-year-old boy was attacked and killed by the family’s two pit bulls around nine last night. It happened near the intersection of FM 88 and Mile 13 North. The little boy died at the scene.
A next-door neighbor saw the attack and did what he could. But he says it was too late. We asked him if the dog was still wild. Leo Gutierrez says, “He was pretty wild. I tried to get him out of the way and put him in the back. I didn’t have anything to control the dog.”
Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies arrived and shot and killed the dog. The second pit bull managed to get away.

An air and water search has turned up empty in the search for two missing Pasadena, Texas children who disappeared last week. Their father, Randy Sylvester, has been named a suspect but has not been charged.
Scores of volunteers turned out again today to help in the search, although the trail grew colder Wednesday as night fell on the third day since the disappearance of Denim Sylvester, 3, and her 7-year-old brother, Randy Sylvester Jr.
Early in the evening, police searched a retention pond where they had gotten a tip that something was dumped on Sunday afternoon, the same day the children vanished from an apartment complex a mile away. Police have said their father is a suspect, although he hasn’t been charged in connection with their disappearance.
A diver bobbed near the edge of the pond, dragging a rope tied to his ankle through the murky water, but came up with nothing more than a tire.
It was the latest in a series of dead ends that have frustrated searchers since Sunday.

A pet bird is being blamed for one man’s death, and for putting his daughter in serious medical danger. But not from an attack — instead, the family claims the bird was diseased and the illness spread to the humans in the house.
Joe De La Garza, 63, died of psittacosis, also known as parrot disease and parrot fever, KRIS 6 News reported. It is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium chlamydophila psittaci and can be passed from numerous bird species to humans.
De La Garza’s family told KRIS 6 News that De La Garza’s daughter Amanda bought the cockatiel from PetSmart on Sept. 30, 2006. Less than a month later in October, De La Garza died. Amanda was sickened and fell into a coma. She spent weeks in the hospital and has since recovered.
The family filed the suit in Nueces County District Court to get PetSmart to stop selling birds that may “kill their customers.”
We would add that PetSmart should not sell *any* pets that kill their customers…

A mother in Pasadena, California Texas pleaded through the media for her children’s safe return. Her son and daughter, ages 7 and 3, respectively, were reported missing Sunday afternoon.
“I want my kids back. I want my kids back. I just want to say, if you know where my kids are, return them to me,” said Jerilynn St. Cyr, struggling to control her emotions.
Aided by search dogs from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, police are scouring the area surrounding the Sandridge Apartment Homes at 4025 Burke Road.
Investigators have searched the separate apartments of the children’s parents, as well as their father’s car, but investigators say they have no reason to suspect foul play so far.

A boy who lost his sight and also the ability to walk and talk after an asthma attack cut off oxygen to his brain is slowly recovering.

He went home in August and, with help from physical therapists, learned to walk again.

Yeah, uh, no.
Dena Schlosser, the Plano mother who killed her baby by cutting off her arms, has told a judge that she believes she’s ready to be released from a state mental hospital.
In a letter dated June 3, Ms. Schlosser asked state District Judge Chris Oldner for a new hearing, citing several mistakes in her medical records that have been corrected.
“I am confident that in light of the corrected documentation, my current mental health needs can be adequately met by community services and that I am no longer in need of institutionalized care,” Ms. Schlosser wrote.

Uh, a “children’s advocate” is not supposed to be advocating having sex with them.
A court-appointed children’s advocate remained in jail Wednesday night after police said they seized video allegedly showing him having sex with children ranging in age from 3 to 15 and two adult women who appeared to be unconscious.
Billy Dan Carroll, 53, is in jail on a bond of $2 million, said a Travis County Jail official. The jail official did not know if Carroll has an attorney. An automated message at the jail said Carroll must post the full bond amount or a surety bond worth $2 million before being released.
The Associated Press left phone messages at multiple listings for a Billy Carroll, but none were returned.
Carroll was arrested Sunday and faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, in connection with a May 17 incident allegedly involving an 8-year-old girl, according to the Austin American-Statesman Web site.

A baby, reportedly under the age of 1 and deeply frozen from being in the freezer for at least a year, was found in a hotel freezer in Houston, Texas.
Why did they wait so long to report it and why report it all if they seemingly were getting away with it. Perhaps an argument that prompted revenge?
MT hopes that a murder investigation will ensue.
A baby boy found dead in a southwest Houston motel freezer may have been there since May 2007, Houston police said at a Friday press conference.
Police say baby Devin was found Friday morning wearing a diaper wrapped in blankets inside a gym bag and frozen solid, police said. Detectives say Devin’s mother, Crystal Sosa, 25, and her common-law husband, Dezmond Blake, 29, had been using the refrigerator’s freezer while his body still inside.

An 18-year-old in Texas has been arrested for allegedly robbing, sexually assaulting, and kidnapping a 63-year-old woman. Bet he had a real great home life growing up!
The 63-year-old woman was found Friday, 16 hours after her attacker tossed her into the well. She was found hours after the suspect had been stopped in her car.
