Boy rescues little brother from drowing in pool

Posted May 14th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.telegraph.co.uk

Rock on, Jack Dudley, you’re our hero of the day. His parents must be extremely proud.

Jack Dudley had been making the most of last Sunday’s sunshine by playing in the pool with Sam, three, as their parents watched nearby.

But when his mother went into the house and his father turned his back, the little boy slipped off his armbands to try to jump onto an inflatable lounger, but he missed and sank to the bottom.

Jack jumped into the pool and tried desperately to drag his brother to the surface but he slipped from his grasp the first time.

He dove down a second time before successfully bringing Sam up to the edge of the pool where he was pulled out by his mother Kim, 41.

Swimming pool poisons Kindergarteners

Posted March 2nd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

In an ironic twist of fate, kindergarteners learning about water safety were poisoned and taken to the hospital, suffering chlorine poisoning.

WAUSAU, Wis. — A kindergartner hospitalized in critical condition after being exposed to a high level of chlorine at a swimming pool was upgraded to fair condition Saturday, a hospital official said.

A group of more than 40 kindergartners from Lincoln Elementary had difficulty breathing Friday while they were in a swimming pool learning about water safety, said Mary Ellen Marnholtz, spokeswoman for the Wausau School District in northern Wisconsin. The pool was at a nursing home run by North Central Health Care in Wausau.
