Man arrested with mother’s head

Posted April 15th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.news.com.au

We think it’s safe to assume that someone walking down the street with their mother’s head is a bit deranged. At what do you know, we were right!

Angelo Carotenuto Macanas, 34, told police he had cut off his mother’s head with a large knife, authorities said today.

He was arrested in the town of Santomera, in the southeastern region of Murcia, last night as he was telling passersby he was carrying his mother’s head, wrapped in a dishcloth.

The local authorities said the man was known to police for committing acts of violence against his mother. He had been interned for psychiatric treatment several times.

Update: Spanish douche drops lawsuit

Posted January 30th, 2008 by minortopics | via ap.google.com

Tomas Delgado, the Spanish businessman who sued the parents of the boy he ran over and killed, apparently had a change of heart and has decided to drop the lawsuit. Who are we kidding — this guy obviously has no soul, and was simply embarrassed by all the negative attention:

On Wednesday, Delgado’s lawyer announced that his client decided to ditch the case because of media pressure, Spanish National Radio reported. He spoke outside the court in the small town of Haro in northern Spain to a crowd of several hundred people.

“We’re very happy,” said Anton Iriondo, father of the cyclist.

Driver who killed teenager suing parents for damage

Posted January 25th, 2008 by minortopics | via ap.google.com

Wow, this guy must have one giant set of balls. Tomas Delgado, a businessman in Spain, was doing nearly 100 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone when he struck and killed Enaitz Iriondo, 17, who cycled in front of Delgado’s path. It was after dark, and since Iriondo wasn’t wearing reflective clothing or a helmet, Delgado escaped any sort of jail time when the judge ruled both parties at fault. But while most would count their blessings and try to move on with their life, this douche decides to sue the dead boy’s parents for the damage to his car:

Delgado, whose insurance company paid Iriondo’s parents $48,500 in compensation for their son’s life, filed a suit in late 2006 to recover $29,400 in damages to his car and car rental costs, the ministry traffic report said.

“It’s the only way I have to claim my money back,” Delgado was quoted as saying by the newspaper El Pais, which first reported the story on Friday. El Pais said a ruling was expected next week.

Iriondo’s parents were shocked.

“It’s the final straw, a stab in the back,” Iriondo’s mother, Rosa Trinidad said, according to El Pais. “Before the lawsuit we thought the poor guy would find it hard to live the rest of his life with the thought of having caused our son’s death.

Sketch released in Madeleine McCann abuduction

Posted January 20th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.cnn.com

A collaborative effort on the part of two eye-witnesses, who gave details about a man they claim they saw take little Maddy.

The man and his connections to several pedophile rings, with child pornography and predator reach around the world is now being investigated.

Super creepy! Let’s hope law enforcement breaks these rings wide open and that the world be a safer place. Perhaps this will spawn some additional child molestation laws in countries where their laws in that area are insufficient.

That afternoon, when Cooper’s husband went shopping, the man paid her a visit, Mitchell said. She described him as “sallow-skinned and scruffy,” and said that he claimed to be collecting money for an orphanage in a nearby village.
Subsequent investigations have shown the orphanage does not exist, Mitchell told CNN. A few days later, the man was seen with a group of children on an outing to the beach, Mitchell said.

The man spoke in broken, accented English, Mitchell said.

When Cooper returned to Britain and heard about Madeleine’s disappearance, she told British police about the man, and her account was given to police in Portugal, Mitchell told CNN.

The McCann family showed the new sketches to Jane Tanner, a family friend who earlier gave police a description of a man she spotted carrying a child from the resort on the night Madeline vanished. Tanner told them the new sketches resemble the man she saw, Mitchell said.

5 year old disappears close to where Madeleine McCann went missing

Posted January 16th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A 5-year-old girl went missing when she went to a local store to buy crisps.

What makes this all the more eerie, the place of her disappearance was just 2 hours outside the Praia da Luz resort where Madeleine McCann went missing.

Could there be a link??

A 5-year-old girl disappeared in an area searched as part of the hunt for Madeleine McCann.

The family of Spanish Mari Luz Cortes fear she has been snatched.

Her father, Juan Jose, broke down in tears and said: “Whoever has her, bring her back and everything will be okay.”

The area in Huelva, Spain, which borders Portugal, has been searched by 100 police officers and 500 volunteers.

Search teams are also hunting on the Portuguese side of the border.

Mari Luz went out to buy a packet of crisps from a local shop on Sunday afternoon.

She was last seen by the shopkeeper at around 5pm.
