A California man allegedly shot his wife in the face and took off with their son. The woman is expected to survive.
An Amber Alert was in effect throughout California for Lonnie Ramos, 46. He was believed to be driving a rented 39-foot purple-and-gold Fleetwood Providence motor home with the license plate number 5EGW556, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.
Ramos was possibly in the San Diego area and Border Patrol agents were notified in case he tried to head for Mexico, sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said.
Amormino said Ramos was considered “armed and extremely dangerous.”

Becky D’Aoust, the mother whose teen was charged with attacking her with a hammer has died from her injuries.
The death has shaken neighbors and brought tears to the eyes of friends close to the D’Aoust family.
“It’s horrible what has happened to this family,” said neighbor Lori Erlenbach. “They were a good, close family. That’s all that needs to be said right now.”
Neighbor Arthur Moreau, who earlier said he would be acting as the D’Aoust family spokesman, hung up on a reporter yesterday when asked to talk about the D’Aousts.
Officers were called to the home on Canyon Lake Drive near Pinetree Drive just before 9 a.m. and found Becky D’Aoust on the kitchen floor with a serious head injury.

An 8 year old boy has retained council, and is filing a civil complaint against an off-duty police officer, who he says shot him during a traffic incident.
The complaint was filed in federal court against Officer Franklin White, San Diego’s police chief, the Police Department and the city. It claims White illegally shot Johnny Silva while acting under color of department policies that failed “to prevent the consistent and systematic use of excessive force by off-duty officers.”
The complaint also claims infliction of emotional and physical distress on the boy, who underwent surgery to remove a bullet from his leg after the March 15 shooting.
“We don’t know yet whether he was hit in his growth plate,” said lawyer Eugene Iredale, who said he expects to claim more than $150,000 in damages.
Silva’s mother, Rachel, was shot twice in the arm. According to the complaint, White pointed his gun at Johnny Silva and then shot at their car during an argument after a near-accident on a busy street, as Rachel Silva reversed to get away.

Usually if you think about danger lurking in the brush at the edge of a baseball field, you might think ticks, snakes, or poison ivy. But parents in Lakeside, California, along the San Diego River have something else to worry about — transients. (Or “homeless” for you non-PC types.)
A 9-year-old boy was lured to the riverbank by a transient. Adults at a softball game nearby intervened and called sheriff’s deputies. When the man was arrested, they discovered he was a registered sex offender.
“I hate to think what would have happened if we weren’t watching him and the boy had actually gone down there,” said Sam Smith, president of the Lakeside Girls Fastpitch Softball league.
Because of the incident, the county has given a higher priority to protecting children from transients at the 60-acre park on Ashwood Street, near El Capitan High School.

Hey, kids, here’s a tip from your pals at MT — if you’re thirsty and your mama’s a dumbass crack whore, better just go get some water out of the faucet.
A 3-year-old girl was hospitalized, and her mother and a friend were arrested Sunday, after the girl drank from a bottle that contained GHB, commonly known as the date-rape drug.
Hospital officials in Chula Vista notified police just after 1 p.m. that the girl was suffering from a drug overdose, National City police Assistant Chief Manuel Rodriguez said yesterday.
The girl’s mother told police that she had been at a friend’s house on Wilson Avenue near 20th Street and was smoking drugs when her daughter became thirsty and asked for some water, Rodriguez said.
The friend handed the mother a bottle of clear liquid, which was given to the girl. The child soon began to vomit and lose consciousness, Rodriguez said.

We think anyone of us would say we would give our life for our child, and Deysi Araux proved it when she put herself in harms way to save her son:
A young mother pushed her son out of serious harm’s way but was gravely injured Tuesday when they were struck by a motorist whose brakes failed, police said.
A hospital spokesman said the woman was in critical condition Wednesday morning and remained on life support.
The driver went on to hit several cars, plowed through a fence and hit a house on Logan Avenue in Mountain View about 3:30 p.m.

This is dedicated to all the parents that think vaccinations are nothing more than a government conspiracy theory to line the pockets of big corporations…
On Jan. 25, the 7-year-old’s parents took the youngster to the Children’s Clinic of La Jolla. The child may have coughed and sneezed in the office, thus infecting four other children.
Those four patients returned to the clinic between Feb. 5 and 8, possibly spreading the virus to 60 other children.
All of the 11 confirmed patients, from 10 months to 9 years old, were not vaccinated either because they were younger than 1 – the minimum age for measles inoculation – or because their parents objected to having them vaccinated, county officials said.
