Another pit bull attack on toddler

Posted September 7th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.suntimes.com

As much as the pro pit bull crowd claims pit bulls are friendly, family dogs, their reputation far exceeds them. The media doesn’t have a bias, it’s just that pit bulls happen to kill and mame children more than any other dog.

A 4-year-old girl was recovering Saturday after being mauled by a neighbor’s pit bull in the backyard of her Humboldt Park home.

Jaslin Sampre was taken to Children’s Memorial Hospital in critical condition after the Friday night attack in the 3500 block of West Cortland, her family said.

Most revealing…

The pit bull that mauled her seemed “like a nice dog,” Rodriguez said. “Maybe he doesn’t like kids.”

New York toddler attacked by pit bull

A 3-year-old in New York City was mauled by a pit bull after a man allegedly used the dog as a weapon.

The incident occurred after a man who had been fighting with his ex-wife at a relative’s apartment kicked an air conditioner out of a basement window and unleashed his two pit bulls into a room occupied by five children, police said. The other four children escaped.

The man was arrested Wednesday and was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and acting in a manner to injure a child. His dogs were taken by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Infant mauled by family dog

Posted May 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxreno.com

A 9-month-old boy had to have surgery after he was mauled by the family’s dog while playing in their living room. And, hey, what do you know, it wasn’t a pit bull, but a boxer.

Authorities said the attack took place at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when an adult male boxer named Tyson lunged at the child in the home on the 3600 block of Monmouth Place. The infant sustained injuries to his face and neck, and was taken to Oakland Children’s Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Fremont police detective Bill Veteran said at the time of the attack the boy was with his sister and an aunt.

“The child was in the living room with two female adults –.one is an adult sister. The other…an aunt,” Veteran said. “For no apparent reason the dog lunged out and grabbed the child by the face and the neck.”
