Student claims principal forced him to talk dirty

Posted May 23rd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A former Teaneck High School student is suing the school, saying their lack of safety rules led to a principal abusing him.

Andrew Dizon is now 20, but he was a 17-year-old senior when he claims former Principal Joseph White engaged him in explicit conversations and told the boy to expose himself.

Dizon, who later wore a wiretap, met White at his office and obtained the key evidence that put White behind bars.

White was sentenced to a year in jail last year, but was released in February for good behavior, less than four months into his sentence.

Father gets 30 years for son’s death

Posted May 15th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.nj.com

A “man” was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his infant son by striking him so hard he crashed into a fish stand and died.

William J. Duncan II, 25, asserted in court, “I am not a monster. … I think I’m good enough to take care of kids.”

Duncan, who pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in March, admitted he was lying on the floor on May 23, 2006, with his son, William J. III on his chest when he pushed the child with “some force.”

“That angered and affronted me to hear (Duncan) describe himself as a good father,” Assistant Prosecutor Vincent Malfitano said after the court hearing. “This particular death is unexplainable. … It was completely pointless and senseless.”

A Virginia man went on a brutal rampage and shot his girlfriend and their two children, ages 1 and 2, before turning the gun on himself.

The man, Aaron Poseidon Jackson, age 24, apparently shot the his girlfriend, Latasha Nicole Thomas, age 23, with an AK-47 type assault rifle, then he took a handgun, went to their children’s bedroom and shot both kids in the head while they lay in their cribs.

The children have been identified as Nicole Aaron Jackson, age 2 and a half years and Aaron Neptune Jackson age one and half years.

Infant found dead at fairgrounds

Posted May 6th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.newsday.com

The cleaning crew at a fairground in Millville, New Jersey made the grizzly discovery of a baby in a toilet tank. Officials are still trying to determine if the baby was full term or if it was an aborted fetus.

Investigators say an autopsy is needed to determine if the baby reached full term and was born alive or if it was still a fetus when it died.

A Cinco de Mayo celebration hosted by the Hispanic Business Association of South New Jersey was held at the fairgrounds on Sunday.

Police say they do not yet know the ethnicity of the baby or the circumstances under which it was abandoned.

Pregnant policewoman requests light duty — DENIED

Posted May 6th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A pregnant female police officer in Ocean Township, New Jersey requested she be put on “light duty” — but the town officials said, “nuh, uh.”

Officer Sonia Henriques is concerned about putting her unborn child at risk and her doctor agrees. She is two months pregnant.

At a council meeting Monday night, Mayor William Larkin said the Monmouth County community should develop a policy to deal with a police officer’s pregnancy. Two of the department’s 62 officers are women.

Her union says management has told the decorated officer to stay on patrol or take an unpaid leave of absence.

Boy fires gun in elementary school

Posted April 24th, 2008 by minortopics | via ap.google.com

We just want to know where a 4th grader got a semiautomatic handgun. Supposedly it was old and rusted, with only one bullet in it. It will be interesting to see if it was ditched after a violent crime.

Police say a fourth-grader fired a semiautomatic handgun inside a New Jersey elementary school as he was showing it to a friend.

Linden Lt. Raymond Tyra says no one was injured in the gunfire at School Number 2 on Wednesday afternoon.

A 10-year-old boy was showing the .38-caliber gun to his friend in a coat closet when the weapon went off. A bullet passed through the wall and into the classroom next door, where it lodged in a wall.

Brittany Cena’s cousin charged with her murder

Posted March 20th, 2008 by minortopics | via app.com

Yesterday we linked to the story of Brittany Cena, who was found dead in the basement of her New Jersey home. At the time, police did not release the cause of death. Today it’s being reported that Cena was strangled, and her 24-year-old cousin has been charged with the crime:

Garry S. Zigich Jr., 24, strangled his 15-year-old cousin, Brittany Cena, Tuesday morning, then hid her body in the basement of the Cenas’ house on Colonial Drive before checking himself into a hospital, claiming suicidal tendencies, authorities said.

Autopsy results showed that Brittany’s cause of death was “manual strangulation.” Zigich has been charged with one count of murder.

Zigich had been living at the home for about a month, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said at a news conference Wednesday. The girl’s parents and their two other daughters, Carol and a 3-year-old sister, also lived at the house.

Brittany’s parents had presumed Brittany attended Toms River High School North on Tuesday. But when she did not come home, Brittany’s mother, Denise Cena, became worried, authorities said, and went to police headquarters on Oak Street about 4:30 p.m. to request a missing persons report. A police officer went to the home to take the information, Police Chief Michael G. Mastronardy said.

New Jersey nanny drugged toddlers

Posted February 28th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

OK, we’re guessing more than one of us is guilty of at least one instance where we’ve slipped the kid some Benadryl to help him sleep (our infraction was on a long flight to Seattle) but a) it’s not on a regular basis and b) it’s not kids that aren’t ours! A New Jersey nanny has admitted she used the antihistamine on the little tots under her watch:

Jennifer Wolff pleaded guilty to third-degree child endangerment Wednesday and faces up to 180 days in jail under a deal with prosecutors. The 24-year-old had faced up to 10 years in prison under the original charges.

Wolff told the court she was tired and worried that she might not be able to handle the 3- and 1-year-old boys.

Wolff said she spiked their juice with an anti-allergy sedative.

Prosecutors said the children’s mother because suspicious when she tasted the juice and one of her son’s referred to his “medicine bottle.”

9-year-old found guilty in beating death

Posted February 15th, 2008 by minortopics | via ap.google.com

Last summer in Woodbridge, New Jersey, a 9-year-old boy was accused of beating to death 11-month old Tahir Francis at the Beverly Bryant day care center. The boy was found guilty today of the juvenile equivalent of manslaughter.

The boy, identified only as “J.L.,” was “adjudicated delinquent” and sentenced to 18 months probation. He must continue the counseling and therapy he is already undergoing, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday night.

The boy was originally charged with aggravated manslaughter in the Aug. 23 death of 11-month-old Tahir Francis of Carteret, who died from head injuries after being kicked at the Beverly Bryant Family Day Care facility in Woodbridge Township.

Beverly Bryant, 64, who operated the licensed facility out of her home, was not in the room when the infant was kicked. Authorities have said Bryant was distracted by a phone call and other home chores.

The center was ordered closed and Bryant was charged with child endangerment. She has pleaded not guilty.

Park ranger to lost family: You’re SOL

Posted January 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

Susan and Ian Ratner are claiming that after getting lost for over three hours on a day hike at Camp Glen Gray with their four kids, they came across a park ranger who they say refused to help them:

The family later told police that the caretaker at Camp Glen Gray Campgrounds wouldn’t give them a ride or a cell phone. The family says he told them to use a pay phone.

Caretaker Drew Baumgardt tells the Record of Bergen County he did not deny the lost family aid.

The family eventually made it out of the woods by following the sound of police sirens.

Mother brutally attacks 6 year old son

Posted December 25th, 2007 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

To think, this holiday season, a little boy, a precious, innocent little boy, could only lay there and wonder what he had done to make his mother turn on him, slash his throat and leave him to die.

Perhaps, mothers found to be taking mood altering drugs or suffer from some sort of mental problems should not be allowed any sharp objects in the house and constant Family Service monitoring, or forfeit of their parental rights altogether before tragedies like this occur. There are just too many mothers brutally slaying their children. It has to stop. These children deserve better than a mentally incompetent, mentally ill mother that would just assume kill them than do their job to protect them. It’s so sad.

Rest in peace little Jared…

DEPTFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A woman armed with a 13-inch kitchen knife killed her 6-year-old son by slashing his throat early Saturday, then turned the weapon on herself, Gloucester County authorities said.

It was not immediately clear what spurred Martina Harding, 42, to attack her son inside their Deptford Township home, authorities said. Harding’s husband — who authorities say witnessed at least part of the attack — and the couple’s 9-year-old daughter were also home at the time but were not injured.
