Omaha 8th grader shot in mouth

Posted April 25th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

An 8th grader in Omaha, Nebraska was shot in the middle of a school soccer game. Well that’s certainly worth of a red card!

About 100 kids were in and around the middle school about 3:30 p.m. when witnesses saw the boy — a soccer player on the sidelines — bleeding from his face. He had been shot in the mouth and was taken to Creighton University Medical Center; police identified him as 14-year-old Taylor Borgeson.

Tierney said the teen’s injuries suggest he was struck by a discharged round that was falling.

Children were kept in the school as police questioned them. Dozens of parents picked up their children after the lockdown was lifted.

“It’s kind of a hectic scene,” Tierney said.

HOAX: Girl beat up over anti illegal immigration poster

Posted April 9th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.team4news.com

UPDATE: This story now appears to be a hoax. Thank you “Legal Mexican” for bringing it to our attention.

————————————

An eighth grader was accosted in her middle school hallway for simply completing an assignment. Her teacher assigned the students to make either past or present protest signs, hers were against illegal immigration which apparently was not well received by her peers.

ATHENS, Texas (AP) - An East Texas girl who made an anti-illegal immigration sign for a U.S. history class says she was beaten by other students.

Her sign said: “If you love our nation, stop illegal immigration.”

The father of 13-year-old Melanie Bowers of Athens says he’s keeping her out of classes until probably next week until the situation is resolved.

As a class project, students made “protest signs” about past and current issues.

Tweens given tools to freely have sex

Posted October 18th, 2007 by minortopics | via blogs.usatoday.com

The title says it all.

What has this world come to?? Giving out birth control to 11 - 13 year olds, diminishing the consequences of children having sex. This is a clear example of parents and the government failing children — encouraging children to have sex. What’s next? Legalized prostitution with prepubescent children?

The 17 pregnancies in the middle schools in Maine is not the result of not having birth control, it’s a result of negligence on the schools part and terrible, absent parenting. (There — I said it.)

The whole thing makes me ill…

School officials voted last night to OK a plan to distribute contraceptives to children as young as 11 in Portland, Maine.

The Associated Press says the decision follows at least 17 pregnancies in the last four years among students at the city’s three middle schools. Children who have parental permission to visit the health center at King Middle School will have confidential access to birth-control pills, condoms and other contraceptives, according to the wire service.
