We’re staunch supporters of separation of church and state, and will go to the mat if we thought our rights were being infringed upon. So when boneheaded teachers and school administrators at a high school in Madison, Wisconsin enacted policies that clearly demonstrate they have no idea what the Establishment Clause really means, they don’t do anyone any favors and just provide more fodder for the other side. See, geniuses, it refers to the government endorsing a particular religion, it doesn’t mean that religious beliefs of the students need to be suppressed or banned. Sheesh, we thought that should be pretty obvious to people with college educations.

According to the lawsuit [filed by the student’s parents], the student’s art teacher asked his class in February to draw landscapes. The student, a [Tomah High School] senior identified in the lawsuit by the initials A.P., added a cross and the words “John 3:16 A sign of love” in his drawing.

His teacher, Julie Millin, asked him to remove the reference to the Bible, saying students were making remarks about it. He refused, and she gave him a zero on the project.

Millin showed the student a policy for the class that prohibited any violence, blood, sexual connotations or religious beliefs in artwork. The lawsuit claims Millin told the boy he had signed away his constitutional rights when he signed the policy at the beginning of the semester.

The boy tore the policy up in front of Millin, who kicked him out of class. Later that day, assistant principal Cale Jackson told the boy his religious expression infringed on other students’ rights.

On the list of America’s most wanted and notorious pedophiles, Chester Arthur Stiles, the man who videotaped himself raping 3 year old girl, Madison who was subsequently featured on news-wires for days in order to find her, was caught during a routine traffic stop:

Chester Stiles, the man accused of videotaping himself assaulting a 3-year-old girl, was arrested Monday night outside Las Vegas during a routine traffic stop.

Stiles, his hair now long and unruly, was driving a white Buick Century when police officers pulled him over in Henderson, Nev., for driving without a license plate.

Stiles presented a fake California driver’s license, and officers immediately questioned his identity.

Mystery girl, Madison, was found last night as tips came pouring into a Nye County law enforcement hot-line. Still, many questions remain as the then 3 year old victim, now age 7, was not immediately brought to law enforcement’s attention by her mother as the case and her photo were so highly publicized. Also, the fact that the mother said she knew nothing about the abuse raises some doubt as the police had observed and spoken about the look on the toddlers face as she was being raped, was as though she had been through this kind of torture many times before.

Police are now questioning the mother and trying to find the offender. And appropriately disturbing — the suspects name is Chester (the molester) Arthur Stiles.

They gave the media a first name for the girl, whose haunting face could be seen in the video in which she was raped. They also released a photograph of her.

The plan worked. On Friday, the girl was found safe in Las Vegas and a fugitive who knew her family was named a suspect in the case, authorities said.

“She looks like a very happy 7-year-old girl,” Nye County sheriff’s Detective David Boruchowitz said at a news conference late Friday.

The girl, who was 3 when the tape was made, was with relatives and sheriff’s officials, he said.
