Parents of dead toddler ask for leniency

Posted January 16th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.local10.com

Ocnel Joseph and Merlande Alexis, the parents of the baby beaten to death with a baseball bat by her 12-year-old cousin, are asking the courts not to prosecute the boy. We initially thought it was because they were incredibly forgiving on the level of saints, but it turns out Joseph doesn’t think the boy committed the crime:

The baby’s parents, Ocnel Joseph and Merlande Alexis, are asking the Broward County State Attorney’s office to not press charges against the boy, who detectives say confessed to beating his cousin, Shaloh Joseph. The boy was baby-sitting the child at the family’s Lauderhill home on Jan. 4. He said the toddler was crying while he was trying to watch a television show.

“He’s a good child. He loves me. He loved Shaloh and I believe he didn’t do it and his life shouldn’t be put at state,” said Joseph.

McLawrence said the girl’s parents have filed an affidavit with prosecutors seeking leniency for the juvenile.

12 year old boy beats toddler to death with bat

Posted January 6th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.nbc6.net

Guess where this happened? (Perhaps I should only alert readers if violent child abuse and murders are NOT in Florida)

A 12 year old boy who was babysitting a 2 year old beat her to death with a bat after she wouldn’t be quiet so he could watch his show. It’s CLEAR that this boy witnesses violence on such a regular basis that he thought this was the appropriate punishment for a baby just being a baby. Children learn what they see and what they experience.

LAUDERHILL, Fla. — A 12-year-old boy has been charged with beating a toddler to death with a baseball bat.

Detectives said they have a videotaped confession from boy, who was babysitting the 17-month-old girl at a home on Northwest 31st Way in Lauderhill on Friday afternoon.

He told police he beat the baby because she was crying and he was trying to watch television, according to court records.

Autistic boy stabbed in his eyes speaks

Posted December 2nd, 2007 by minortopics | via www.sun-sentinel.com

While the first reports to come out about this story stated that the Autistic boy who’s aunt took a dagger to his eyes couldn’t speak, he woke up to tell police what happened.

And the fact that his grandmother wouldn’t call an ambulence because she didn’t want to get her daughter that stabbed the boy in trouble is so incredibly criminal, I hope the grandmother as well as the aunt suffer exactly the way this boy has. I can’t believe that police are even considering not charging her!!!

“An eye for an eye” has never been more appropriate or fitting for these two evil, child abusive witches.

Initially thought to be mute, Edward Alexander Clark Babington, 14, awoke early Saturday to say his aunt attacked him, said Lt. Rick Rocco, a spokesman for the Lauderhill Police Department. The boy was blinded in one eye, and remained in stable condition Saturday afternoon as specialists tried to salvage the sight in his other eye at a “secure hospital facility” in Miami, Rocco said. It was not clear whether the boy would lose vision in his second eye.

Police said they had not determined what, if any, charges they would file against the boy’s grandmother, Stella Babington, 72, who said her daughter told her not to call 911 when the attack began, and that she didn’t want to get her daughter in trouble, police said.
