Hawk attacks girl at Fenway Park
Posted April 4th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.courant.comOne of our fondest moments when we were a kid was going on a class trip to historic Wrigley Field, where we received a pre-game tour and were actually able to go out onto the field. So we’re sure 13-year-old Alexa Rodriguez will find that her similar trip to Boston’s Fenway Park will be just as memorable — especially since SHE WAS ATTACKED BY A HAWK.
The 13-year-old eighth-grade student at Memorial Boulevard Middle School was there on a tour Thursday morning when she was attacked by a red-tailed hawk. She was taken to a local hospital with a cut on the right side of her forehead.
A Red Sox official said she was treated and released in the early afternoon.
Alexa was in Fenway’s upper deck behind home plate, about 40 feet from the hawk’s nest, when she was attacked. The hawk had a nest with an egg in an overhang near the press box. The hawk had been perched on a railing before attacking Rodriguez with its talons extended.
(Note to the media: enough with the “A-Rod” jokes already)
