Those children’s names are Angel, 11 and Starlet, 15. As strange as their lives were, living in squalor in a locked shed behind their captor’s house. Apparently, in some way, the girls had normal pre-teen/teen interests.

In many ways, this story is eerily similiar to that of Elisabeth Fritzl, the Austrian girl who was locked in a dungeon and continually raped by her father for 20 years. Elizabeth also bore children by her rapist/father.

Her two daughters, fathered by 58-year-old Garrido, attended birthday parties and, like many girls their age, shared a love for the TV show “Hannah Montana.”

Josef Fritzl, the sick guy accused of keeping his daughter in a locked cellar for 24 years is on trial in Austria. Prosecutors contend that Fritzl didn’t speak to his daughter for years, and the only contact he had with her was to rape her — often in front of the young children she had given birth to from his incest. He pleaded guilty to the incest and kidnapping, but denied being responsible for the death of a 2 day old infant. Investigators say the baby probably would have survived if given access to medical care.

Kerstin Fritzl, who doctors placed in an artificial coma after she was admitted to a hospital in April for multiple organ failure, is now well enough to speak, stand and walk with assistance, her doctors said.

Doctors said “little novelties” such as seeing a cloud go by are now big events for the former captives.

Kerstin Fritzl, the 19-year-old that was the pinnacle for the revelation that Josef Fritzl had kept his daughter in children from incest in a cellar for 24 years, has woken up from the artificial coma doctors had placed her in. Kerstin, along with six other children, was born from Josef Fritzl’s incestuous relationship with his daughter Elisabeth, now 43, who he raped repeatedly during the 24 years she spent imprisoned beneath his home.

Police say Fritzl, 73, has confessed to holding his Elisabeth captive, and fathering seven children — six of whom survived.

Kerstin was admitted to hospital in Amstetten, west of Vienna, in an unconscious state after Elisabeth persuaded Fritzl she needed medical attention. Suspicious medics alerted police who opened an investigation.

Detectives began investigating the case after hospital officials started inquiring about the girl’s family history.

Police in Austria have freed a woman who was allegedly locked in an underground dungeon and abused by her father for 24 years.

The woman, named as Elisabeth Fritzl, 42, is believed to have been sexually abused and beaten by her father, 73, since 1984, as he kept her hostage in a cellar beneath his house in a village near the town of Amstetten in Lower Austria.

Police suspect that the man - who has not been named for legal reasons - fathered his daughter’s four children, the oldest of whom is 19.
