Polygamous sect girl says she “feared for life”

Posted April 9th, 2008 by minortopics | via origin.sltrib.com

The count of children removed from Warren Jeff’s polygamous sect compound has risen to over 400, and stories are starting to come out that life wasn’t exactly some idyllic religious experience there. Rather, many of the women and children that lived on the sprawling Texas ranch may have stayed out of fear of punishment, or even death:

he 16-year-old girl whose call for help sparked a massive raid at a polygamous sect’s compound in west Texas said her spiritual husband would “beat and hurt” her whenever he got angry - sometimes choking her and once breaking her ribs.

During these attacks, another woman in the home held her infant child, the girl said in March 29 calls to an unnamed family violence shelter.

The new details about the call that led to an unprecedented evacuation of children from the sect’s YFZ Ranch near Eldorado are laid out in a chilling affidavit released Tuesday by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Mother stood by while boyfriend beat toddler to death

Posted April 8th, 2008 by minortopics | via ydr.inyork.com

MT can’t even think of an appropriate punishment for such evil people.

Reports reveal that the mother knowingly allowed her boyfriend to beat the child on a regular basis and was fully aware he was beating the child with a cord and heard her cries and screaming and just went on her merry way. She was probably grateful that someone else was going to take the fall for getting rid of a baby she obviously felt was a burden.

Then, she puts on a good show for the police, crying and asking about the condition of her baby as she sat in the police station. MT thinks this was a calculated effort on her part to lessen her jail time as an accessory. After all, Judges an Juries fall for that crap all the time. Especially since jurors are the ones who aren’t smart enough to get out of jury duty, we leave our children’s fate in their hands.

While the mother stood by and watched her boyfriend beat her baby to death with a video game cord, she did nothing, yet cried at police station asking for updates on her baby??? Are you kidding me????? Sounds like she put on a good show, probably more concerned about thwarting jail time than her baby.

The mother admitted that the boyfriend had been beating the toddler for months. BOTH of them need to be charged with murder. This is outrageous. Can anybody imagine the suffering and pain this little baby went though before her body finally gave up?

During questioning at the police station, Johnson admitted to beating the girl but did not say why, Ward said. The toddler was beaten with a video game controller and cord, according to charging documents.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the mother and boyfriend had called 911 to report the injured toddler, Ward said. After the beating, Johnson put the toddler in a bathtub to revive her but she remained unresponsive, according to court records.

Johnson then brought the wet, limp and unresponsive child to Baez and the two began CPR, court records say.

Afterward, the mother told police Johnson was beating her daughter and the child was screaming and then stopped, according to charging documents.

Baez was charged because she was home when Johnson allegedly beat the toddler but did not intervene or try to get help, Ward said.

Mother may be charged with beating her newborn to death

Posted April 6th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.nydailynews.com

This story just leaves me so discouraged and demoralized.

What is the point of Child Protective Services anyway? It seems that they’re more concerned with protecting and rewarding abusive parents than they are the children. Can’t we get an organization that actually cares about the well being of innocent babies and children? It’s bull.

The mom confessed to cops that she had hurt Pablo at least twice since he was born Feb. 8, the complaint said.

She told cops that on Feb. 22 she was changing the squirming baby’s diaper and “pressed down several times on his leg in an effort to make the baby stop moving,” prosecutors said.

She then “picked the baby up under his arms and threw the baby onto her bed,” breaking his leg and several of his ribs, prosecutors said.

She also emotionlessly described how she hurt the baby last Thursday when she “picked him up and hit him on the left side of his head with an open hand,” prosecutors said.

She dropped the car seat a short time later, sending the child crashing to the floor onto his head. He suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

Caseworkers from the Administration for Children’s Services had visited Paez’s Corona home just two days before that final beating, but apparently saw no reason to remove the child.

Six months ago, ACS workers took a toddler from a pregnant Paez because of her drug use, but she had been clean since, authorities said.

“This is a sad and terrible tragedy that no child should ever have to experience,” ACS said in a statement. “We cannot comment in detail on our involvement with this family as we are still investigating.”

Warren Jeffs child brides taken into custody

Posted April 5th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.cnn.com

Jeeze,, what took so long?

Isn’t Warren Jeff’s brand of religion just an excuse to try to find a loophole for pedophilia?

ELDORADO, Texas (CNN) — Authorities say they removed 52 children, ages 6 months to 17 years, from a West Texas ranch occupied by followers of imprisoned polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs

Eighteen girls have been placed in the temporary custody of the state under a court order, said Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.

Authorities said they continue to search the 1,900-acre YFZ ranch, and at least one suspect is being sought by police.

Meisner said troopers and child welfare officials arrived at the secluded ranch Thursday evening with arrest and search warrants. They were responding to a report of “physical abuse” and neglect involving a 16-year-old girl.

Another Child Protective Services spokesman, Darrell Azar, said the 18 girls were placed in state custody because it appeared they “had been abused or were at immediate risk of future abuse.”

4 year old boy bound and duct taped at daycare

Posted March 30th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.chron.com

A little boy was duct taped, bound and held over a trash can as punishment at a Texas daycare center.

Poor little guy. He’s only 4.

Suffice it to say, these people should not be in the business of caring for and protecting children.

George Block, 48, and his wife, Julia Block, 47, manager of the Young Years Day Care Center in Jasper, were charged with child endangerment.

They each face up to two years in state jail if convicted.

According to an arrest affidavit, George Block bound the boy’s wrists and feet on March 3 with duct tape before dangling him over a “metal trash dumpster” at the day care center.

Court papers say Julia Block approved her husband’s actions as discipline for the boy “after a day of very disruptive behavior.” George Block does not work at the day care center.

The 5-foot-10, 240-pound George Block is known at the facility as “Bigfoot.”

The boy told child abuse investigators that “Bigfoot” wrapped his wrists and ankles with tape and held him over a large trash receptacle, according to court papers.

4 year old found weighing only 10 pounds

Posted March 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via ap.google.com

A 4 year old boy was being withheld food and water and was found severely malnourished and starving, weighing only 10 lbs.

PACE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in the Florida Panhandle say they have arrested a woman suspected of severely neglecting a 4-year-old boy.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Haines says the boy weighed only 10 pounds when he was hospitalized earlier this month but his condition is improving.

Deputies on Friday arrested 19-year-old Erin Brittany Markes, identifying her only as the boy’s caregiver.

Roommate suspected of killing infant

Posted March 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.abc15.com

How in the world do you trust your room mate to watch your infant and say you completely trust this person and while you’re gone, the roommate tortures, beats and kills the baby and you claim that you just don’t know how in the world that could happen???

Perhaps if the parents had a collective IQ above the infants, they might have saved this little baby with their better judgment.

I don’t believe this babysitter/roomy was a swell guy who just had a bad day. This is a psychopath and you just don’t become a psychopath in a blink of an eye and decide to kill a little baby. These parent’s stupidity is what killed this baby.

The family of an 8-month-old boy who police say was killed by his babysitter are speaking out.

Easton Lee died while in the care of Tyson Chamberlain who is now facing charges of first degree murder and child abuse.

Police say the boy’s mother is Chamberlain’s roommate and considered a friend.

“The last thing I did that night was give him a hug and told him I trusted him” said Robert Lee, Easton’s father.

Parents may be charged in failed faith healing

Posted March 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.wten.com

The parents of an 18 month old who opted to pray instead of getting her routine treatment that would have likely prevented her death, may face charges of manslaughter.

In cases like these, it has always been MT’s position to place these stories under the child abuse category, because that’s what they are.

The parents of a baby girl who died from a treatable illness left jail late Friday night after posting bail.

Twenty-eight-year old Carl Worthington and 25-year old Raylene Worthington surrendered to police Friday. They face manslaughter and criminal mistreatment charges related to the death of their 15-month old daughter Ava Worthington.

The baby died in early March from an illness that doctors say could have been treated with antibiotics. Authorities believe the parents opted to pray over the baby rather than treat her with medicine.

Toddler being dunked in toilet captured on video

Posted March 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.wtol.com

A 3 year old was videotaped being tormented by her mother’s friend and cousin, dunking her head first into a toilet and slamming the seat on her head.

You have to wonder, what kind of life would be in store for this poor baby, had someone not reported the video, probably a house of horrors.

The video shows the three-year-old girl being dunked in a toilet bowl, head first, and someone slamming the seat on top of her head, repeatedly. The child screams while others watch and laugh. The child is then lifted off the ground by her underwear, and a person tosses some kind of liquid out of a bottle at her face.

The child’s father found the video on a relative’s cell phone, according to Cleveland news reports. That video is now in the hands of police.

Posted March 25th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A man dressed in as the Easter Bunny is suspecting of dropping an infant on the ground, resulting in bruising and potential charges…

Paul Clough was arrested Friday after he became irritated while posing with children for photographs and allegedly placed an 8-month-old baby on the ground. Sometime during that process, the baby was injured and suffered a bruise to his forehead, MyFOXAustin reports.

Police are still investigating if the injury was accidental or intentional. The baby’s parents took him to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Toddler crushed to death by obese relative

Posted March 23rd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.themonitor.com

A toddler’s aunt who reportedly weights upwards of 800 pounds, sat on him and crushed his skull.

Geeze. I used to think that fat people ruined their own health, but now their problem killed an innocent baby - how sick and awful! Plus, there are several reports of previous child abuse by Child Protection Services, so the police investigation is going to determine whether or not this was done on purpose.

MT will file this under child abuse until new information proves otherwise…even if it wasn’t done on purpose, the little boy shouldn’t have been alone with a bed ridden aunt who weighs 800 hundred, frickin’ pounds!

LA JOYA - Authorities suspect a morbidly obese, bedridden woman caused the skull fracture that killed her 2-year-old nephew earlier this week.

The toddler - Eliseo Gonzalez Jr. - died Tuesday after police found him unresponsive at her home on the 800 block of Rancho Escondido, on the city’s east side

Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies remain tight-lipped about how the injury was inflicted, but Justice of the Peace Bobby Contreras said Friday they believe the woman somehow fell on the child.

Contreras, who pronounced the toddler dead at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, estimated the boy’s aunt weighed more than 800 pounds.

Naked toddler’s dad up on charges

Posted March 17th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.indystar.com

The father of a toddler that was found naked wandering along a busy street has been charged with child neglect and — quelle surprise! — drug possession. What makes this story especially notable is that it’s the SECOND TIME IT’S HAPPENED THIS WEEK.

Glen DeCocker, 26, of South Bend was booked Thursday on a felony count of child neglect and two misdemeanors, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, said St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Banicki. He was released Saturday on $1,000 bond.

An employee at a Speedway gas station and several customers told police they saw DeCocker’s naked 2-year-old son walking near the station Thursday night along a busy section of Indiana 933.

Officers had responded to a similar call at the same location involving the same boy on Tuesday.

Probably time to admit you’ve got a problem if you can’t even wait until you get home to hit the bottle…

A Palm Bay mother and father were arrested today on child neglect charges after police determined their 8-year-old daughter was locked in a truck Friday night while they were drinking inside a bar, Palm Bay police reported.

Lisa B. Davis, 36, and her husband Edward Davis, 37, were arrested and were each charged with one count of child neglect, police said.

Toddler beaten and forced to consume alcohol

Posted March 1st, 2008 by minortopics | via news.cincinnati.com

And once again, children tortured like prisoners of war is becoming common place reporting. When will it stop??

COVINGTON - A mother lost custody of her 3-year-old girl after hospital officials treating the toddler for labored breathing discovered she was drunk.

The girl’s blood alcohol level was 0.15, nearly twice the legal driving limit in Kentucky and Ohio of 0.08.

“I don’t know of anyone who has seen that level of alcohol in a 3-year-old,” said the Kenton County Attorney’s chief prosecutor Ken Easterling, who has been with the office for almost 17 years. “This case is unprecedented.”

The toddler appeared to have been force-fed the alcohol because there was bruising around her neck and her lips were cut, Easterling said. He would not speculate on the motive for getting the child drunk, but said he sees parents on a regular basis who medicate children who are teething, have colic or are hyperactive.

The child also had fractures in her left arm, bleeding on the brain and numerous bruises on her body, authorities said.

The injuries are consistent with different types of abuse, Easterling said, but he would not elaborate.

Nanny caught on camera abusing infant twins

Posted February 22nd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.nbc17.com

Nanny who came highly recommended is seen tossing 7 month old twins around the house by their limbs…

See video here

The police decided not to press charges, apparently they didn’t see anything abusive about the video. Minor Topics has no explanation as to why the police are trying to protect a woman who abused two infants, but we don’t like it. No, sir. Not one bit.

CARY, N.C. - A Cary family has fired their nanny after a hidden camera caught her treating their two infant twins roughly.

Mike and Lindsay Addison say they bought the camera online because they had a funny feeling about the way the babysitter was treating their seven-month old twins, Gavin and Bryce.

The camera arrived a couple weeks ago, and they had it up and working for just three hours before Lindsay Addison had had enough.
