Posted January 8th, 2010 by minortopics | via www.latimes.com

A mother has been charged with leaving her toddlers in her car, in freezing cold temperatures, while she went tanning.

Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza (sver-AH’-zah) told the Journal Inquirer that Rock left her two children — ages 3 and just under 1 year — in the parked car, which was not running, for 18 minutes during her tanning session at about 9 a.m. Monday. He says weather reports showed the wind chill was 19 degrees at the time.

Mother and accomplices arrested for duct-taping toddlers body and mouth

Posted January 6th, 2010 by minortopics | via www.dailymail.com

A mother and her roommate and cousin have been arrested in allegations of disgusting abuse and torture against an innocent toddler who had his ankles bound by duct tape, his hands duct taped to his chest and his mouth duct taped closed.

I’m speechless.

Jessica Nicole McClure, 23, was arrested Sunday after police found her apartment to be unfit for habitation and were told that she left her 2-year-old boy to sleep in his car seat in the living room. She has been charged with child neglect creating a risk of injury.

James Ryan Usher, 18, and Della Kay Jackson, 26, were arrested Monday after police said they found evidence linking them to alleged child neglect. Both were charged with child abuse resulting in injury.

Police said Usher is McClure’s cousin and Jackson is the woman’s roommate.

Toddler and woman found imprisoned and tortured in relatives home

Posted January 6th, 2010 by minortopics | via www.chicagotribune.com

A woman was found in a Kenosha, WI home, having been chained to a weight bench for as long as 3 years. She was no longer able to stand or walk, nor could she speak. A baby was also strapped to a car seat in a dark room with a diaper that was many days old, also apparently tortured and abused. The toddler is thought to be the chained up woman’s sisters baby.

The mother of the woman and grandmother to the toddler and her son were charged and arrested.

A disabled woman was found covered in excrement and chained to a weight bench in what Wisconsin authorities said Tuesday was one of the most disturbing abuse cases they had ever encountered.

Sally Adams, 56, and her son, Ernest Claiborne, 34, were charged with keeping Adams’ 38-year-old daughter and Adams’ 2 1/2 -year-old grandson in vile conditions in their Kenosha home.

Adams and Claiborne were arrested Saturday after police discovered Adams’ daughter chained to exercise equipment, according to criminal complaints filed Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court. The toddler was found in a filthy diaper strapped to a car seat in a small, darkened room, the filing said.

Mother and father allegedly beat infant to death

Posted August 25th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.fox40.com

A mother recounts how a 22 month old’s father beat him daily. Both the mother and father have been arrested for child abuse and homocide. The mother was arrested for being complicit in the abuse.

The boy’s mother, Theresa Harper, told FOX40’s Lonnie Wong in an exclusive interview that Harper had a history of abusing her son, including punching his ribs daily and choking him the day he died.

“[Harper] said he did it because he didn’t have a father,” Theresa Harper said through tears.

Now, the Harper Family is planning funeral and cremation arrangements for a baby that was just two months shy of his second birthday. The family is asking for the community’s help in raising funds for the funeral and cremation.

Parents lock children in truck; go partying

Posted August 25th, 2009 by minortopics | via www2.wspa.com

A mother and father locked their two young children, ages 3 and 5, in a truck for several hours while they went into a bar and drank. Police were called when two patrons noticed the children inside the truck. A police officer coerced the children into unlocking the door and when the parents came out, they were allegedly so drunk, they couldn’t even answer simple questions. The children were apparently sobbing.

Two parents face neglect charges after deputies say they left their children, ages 5 and 3, inside a truck for at least an hour and a half while they were drinking inside a local bar.

But the father tells us they were inside for no more than half an hour, tops.

Luis Andino, 41, and Rosa Lopez, 26, are charged with two counts each of unlawful neglect of a child. They have been released from the Spartanburg County Detention Center after posting $2,000 bond apiece.

Young boys, ages 6 and 9, forced to street fight

Posted August 16th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.wpix.com

A mother’s boyfriend allegedly got his rocks off by forcing her children, ages 6 and 9, to fight each other — street fighting style. If they refused, the boyfriend would beat them repeatedly while the mother stood by and watched.

The boys were saved from this abusive situation when their biological father noticed severe bruising on the boys and alterted police.

Joyce Sabotka, 30, reportedly allowed her boyfriend, Steven Meyer, 32, to stage fights between her sons - ages 9 and 6 - at the couple’s home in Tarentum. The oldest boy told authorities Meyer forced him and his brother to fight at least 20 times, according to a police complaint filed in court.

Infant reportedly killed by rat

Posted July 18th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.wdsu.com

A four month old infant, Natalie Hill, was found dead in her crib, covered in rat bites. Police say they don’t know whether or not the baby died before the rats got to her or because of the rats, which would make sense — I mean, wouldn’t the parents hear the poor baby if she was being eaten alive by rats??

Disgusting!

WESTWEGO, La. — The father of the 3-month-old girl who was found dead Thursday, covered in rat bites, said in a radio interview that he knew his house had a rat problem, but he never expected his daughter would be attacked.

Babysitter accused of giving massive amounts of liquor to infant

Posted July 17th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A babysitter allegedly gave a 9 month old infant wine which resulted in an emergency visit to the hospital where the infant was reportedly found to have four times the legal limit of an adult.

The baby probably would have been better off watching herself.

Carrollton police Sgt. Tony Johnson said authorities are searching for 40-year-old Tammy Demice Truitt of Carrollton on charges of first degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct for giving the baby alcohol.

Boy kept as sex slave for 6 years: WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT

Posted July 9th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.rutlandherald.com

A boy’s stepfather kept him locked in his room for six years, using an alarm and hooks and straps to keep him imprisoned in his bedroom. The step-father with-held food and water and sexually tortured and physically and emotionally abused the child from the time he was 11 up until he was 17, when he finally told his mother who did not live with them about the abuse.

It is not known why the boy was given custody to his step-father and why his immediate family was uninvolved in his upbringing or how the heinous abuse went unnoticed for so long.

Here are some details revealed about the sick torture that this poor boy went through:

In the statement, the boy said he was so underfed, he had gained 100 pounds in six months after leaving Pratt’s home.

He said when he was allowed out of the bedroom, Pratt would force him to stay sitting on the kitchen floor. At other times, the boy would be forced to kneel on a hard, wood floor or on a ruler as punishment.

“At Christmas, I could open my gifts. Then he would put them in a box, duct tape it shut and store it in the basement. I never got any gifts,” the boy wrote.

The boy said Pratt intimidated him by hitting him, cutting him with knives and threatening him with the rifle, so he was afraid to try to escape.

Man allegedly chains up two toddlers and chokes mother

Posted June 28th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.dallasnews.com

A Dallas man is being accused of chaining up two small children, ages 2 and 3, by handcuffing their legs togehter and then chaining their handcuffs to a metal pole inside a closet. He allegedly then began trying to choke the mother to death, however, the mom managed to break free and was apparently able to rescue her children.

The man will be charged with child endangerment although that doesn’t seem quite. Surely, there must be a greater charge to be filed along with it if the allegations are true, like child abuse and attempted murder.

Officer responded to the home about 4:45 p.m., but Tyler refused to come out until the police tactical unit responded to the scene and helped arrest him.

As Tyler was being booked into the county jail, police explained that he would be charged with child endangerment.

“I wasn’t going to hurt them,” Tyler said. “I always play with them like that with handcuffs.”

Prosecuters paint picture of horrible abuse

Posted June 25th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

In one of the saddest stories I’ve read in weeks, a little 7 year old boy was beaten so badly by his father on Father’s Day that he was put on life support. Eventually, the boy was declared brain dead and taken off life support.

The boy’s father’s girlfriend is also being charged because reportedly she did nothing to stop the abuse.

RIP little man. The world never got to know you but you will be missed.

The boy was physically and mentally abused by his father for about two months, police said. On Father’s Day, he suffered severe injuries when his father slammed his head into a bedroom wall with such force that it left a dent in the wall, they said.

Schuler was arraigned Tuesday on seven counts of assault and battery and three assault counts. He pleaded not guilty and was held on $250,000 cash bail. His lawyer, Christopher Tully, said his client was remorseful.

Mom leaves infant alone in filth

Posted May 30th, 2009 by minortopics | via www.thefreedictionary.com

A mother, and I use that term lightly here, allegedly left her 7 month old daughter alone, strapped inside a car seat for as long 16 hours. Police discovered her in the middle of a bunch of garbage inside her Fort Walton Beach Florida home.

Officers indicated in the report the child could have been left alone for as long as 16 hours.

“The baby had a misshapen head due to the baby being in the car seat for extended period of time,” the report said. “The baby also had weak muscularity due to lack of physical therapy. The baby also had a yeast infection.”

Casey Anthony blows immunity chance

Posted September 2nd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

Florida authorities had given Casey Anthony until 9:00 a.m. this morning to cooperate with them regarding the disappearance of her daughter Caylee in exchange for limited immunity, but Casey declined the offer.

Padilla said the focus is still on finding Caylee — alive or dead — a discovery that would significantly aid in the investigation.

“Obviously that would clear up a lot of questions that we have,” Padilla told FOXNews.com.

He declined to comment on which of the various theories, if any, had become the most prominent in the investigation. Detectives have been trying to determine whether Caylee died accidentally, was killed or was kidnapped, as her mother has claimed. Police have expressed serious doubts about the abduction story.

“The key is with the mother, with Casey,” Padilla said. “If there is a cover-up, it would be her — if there is. Right now she continues to not provide any information that is helpful to us.”

CPS wants 8 polygamist sect kids back in custody

Posted August 6th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.dallasnews.com

Texas Child Protective Services has petitioned the court to get 8 children they were forced to return to a polygamist sect back into state custody.

In affidavits that provide the best view yet of what CPS has found in its investigation of possible sexual abuse of young teenage girls, four child-abuse investigators said removal of six girls and two boys, ages 5 to 17, are necessary because their mothers won’t agree to keep them away from men practicing and promoting underage marriage.

The affidavits reveal stories that are sad and dismaying.

A 10-year-old girl told CPS investigator Kerrie Blair that she was brought to the sect’s West Texas ranch in the middle of the night more than two years ago. She and a younger sister lived there with Bishop Merril Jessop and his wife, Barbara. The two girls haven’t seen their 41-year-old birth mother since coming to Texas, Ms. Blair said.
