Ryan Ramos, who went missing after his father allegedly shot his mother and abducted him has turned up safe at a church in Mexico. Lonnie Ramos, his father, was killed in a car accident.

Ryan Ramos was found alone Sunday in a Mormon church in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and was expected home in Orange County on Monday, sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said. Former child actor wanted for murder, kidnapping

Posted July 8th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A man who between the ages of 9 and 18 acted in such movies and shows like “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” and “Trapper John, MD” is now wanted in the 2004 murder of his girlfriend and the abduction of their 3 year old son.

[Mark] Everett — whose real name is Manuel Benitez — moved to Miami and, according to the FBI, sold drugs to supplement the money he made doing odd jobs.

He would come to play a real-life role far bigger and more notorious than any of his on-screen personas: a fugitive wanted for killing his girlfriend and abducting their son.

In 1996, Benitez, 26, met Stephanie Spears, and he won her over with his sociable, grandiose way. But the man Stephanie and her family knew was Mark Everett. They didn’t know Benitez, or his drug-dealing past.

Police shoot, kill man stomping toddler

Posted June 16th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A California man was shot and killed by police when he refused to stop brutally stomping and beating a toddler in the middle of the road.

“It’s been a long night of wondering, ‘Why?’ — not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?” Singh said.

Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test, he said.

The suspect had a child’s car seat in the back of his four-door pickup truck. The truck caught the attention of an elderly couple at 10:13 p.m. Saturday because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, Singh said.

As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the toddler behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said.

High School valedictorian facing deportation

Posted June 3rd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

A 17-year-old that graduated with a 4.0 GPA at Bullard High School in Fresno, California won’t get to use that honor to attend one of the United States’ top universities — he and his mother are being deported back to Armenia.

The family fled from what used to be part of the Soviet Union and has been seeking asylum since 1992.

A spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement said they were given an extension until June 20 so [Arthur] Mkoyan could attend his graduation ceremony.

A federal bill called the DREAM Act that would have given some high-performing illegal immigrants legal status to attend college stalled last year in Congress.

Barack Obama voted for the DREAM Act, while John McCain was not present for the vote.

Posted May 29th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxreno.com

A 9-month-old boy had to have surgery after he was mauled by the family’s dog while playing in their living room. And, hey, what do you know, it wasn’t a pit bull, but a boxer.

Authorities said the attack took place at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when an adult male boxer named Tyson lunged at the child in the home on the 3600 block of Monmouth Place. The infant sustained injuries to his face and neck, and was taken to Oakland Children’s Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Fremont police detective Bill Veteran said at the time of the attack the boy was with his sister and an aunt.

“The child was in the living room with two female adults –.one is an adult sister. The other…an aunt,” Veteran said. “For no apparent reason the dog lunged out and grabbed the child by the face and the neck.”
