Amanda is still in critical condition in the ICU at Cardinal Glennon Hospital. Doctors had to remove 18 inches of her intestines. Police say the child was repeatedly beaten by her mother’s boyfriend, Kraig Monroe, 24, of Belleville. He punched the toddler in the stomach when she would not stop crying while her mother was at work. She is now in a medically-induced coma.

…but there are many things an infant cannot consent to, in which parents are allowed to make important decisions on their behalf — immunizations, which room the nursery will be in, the ugly outfits they’re forced to wear, breastfed or formula fed, the list goes on…

A leading condom manufacturer in Switzerland has created extra-small condoms for boys as young as 12 years old, the U.K.’s Daily Telegraph reported.

The condom, called the Hotshot, was produced after family planning groups and the Swiss AIDS Federation campaigned to have the condoms made following several studies that showed adolescent boys were not using proper protection when engaging in intercourse.

The dog was said to be aggressive towards people in general and was later shot by a police deputy.

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a 3-year-old boy has died after his family’s pit bull attacked him at a home in Southern California

The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department said in a statement Sunday that 3-year-old Omar Martinez was declared dead at Saint Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley.

Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza (sver-AH’-zah) told the Journal Inquirer that Rock left her two children — ages 3 and just under 1 year — in the parked car, which was not running, for 18 minutes during her tanning session at about 9 a.m. Monday. He says weather reports showed the wind chill was 19 degrees at the time.

Jessica Nicole McClure, 23, was arrested Sunday after police found her apartment to be unfit for habitation and were told that she left her 2-year-old boy to sleep in his car seat in the living room. She has been charged with child neglect creating a risk of injury.

James Ryan Usher, 18, and Della Kay Jackson, 26, were arrested Monday after police said they found evidence linking them to alleged child neglect. Both were charged with child abuse resulting in injury.

Police said Usher is McClure’s cousin and Jackson is the woman’s roommate.

The mother of the woman and grandmother to the toddler and her son were charged and arrested.

A disabled woman was found covered in excrement and chained to a weight bench in what Wisconsin authorities said Tuesday was one of the most disturbing abuse cases they had ever encountered.

Sally Adams, 56, and her son, Ernest Claiborne, 34, were charged with keeping Adams’ 38-year-old daughter and Adams’ 2 1/2 -year-old grandson in vile conditions in their Kenosha home.

Adams and Claiborne were arrested Saturday after police discovered Adams’ daughter chained to exercise equipment, according to criminal complaints filed Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court. The toddler was found in a filthy diaper strapped to a car seat in a small, darkened room, the filing said.

Important to note however, the study also showed an increase in behaviorial problems if a child continues to get spanked into and after they reach adolescence.

According to the research, children spanked up to the age of 6 were likely as teenagers to perform better at school and were more likely to carry out volunteer work and to want to go to college than their peers who had never been physically disciplined.

But children who continued to be spanked into adolescence showed clear behavioral problems.

The dog did suffer some minor injuries but appears to be doing well.

But Angel was ready – the young dog leapt at the hungry cougar and “took the whack,” Mr. Forman said. The boy escaped inside his home while the two animals battled for several minutes. “The cougar was latched onto her head, you could hear both the dog and the cougar screaming. Then it went silent.”

RCMP Constable Chad Gravelle was less than a minute away from the home when he got an emergency call about a cougar mauling and a child. In the small community, he knows the Forman kids and arrived fearing the worst.

“When I found it was the dog, I was relieved,” he said

A police report said the infant daughter of Jacob Nichols, 20, and Ashley Gibson, 19, was repeatedly spanked, punched and dropped before being hospitalized with more than 20 fractures and other injuries, the Albuquerque Journal said Monday.

Police allege Gibson informed investigators that Nichols punched their infant daughter at least 10 times prior to the hospital visit.
