Woman says boyfriend threw away baby

Posted July 2nd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

Police in Detroit are searching through neighborhood dumpsters after they received a report from a woman telling them that her boyfriend threw their baby in the trash.

The Detroit News, Detroit Free Press and broadcast reports say police were looking for the baby Tuesday night and Wednesday morning following the 29-year-old woman’s examination Tuesday at a hospital. They are also searching for her 35-year-old boyfriend, the baby’s father.

The Detroit woman, who was bloodied and caked with mud when she checked herself into the hospital, said she had suffered a miscarriage. But police say she later said her boyfriend had taken the baby from her and threw it into a trash bin.

Mother of “Baby Grace” gives birth in prison

Posted July 1st, 2008 by minortopics | via www.chron.com

Kimberly Trenor, the woman who beat her daughter Riley — known as “Baby Grace” — to death has given birth to a son while behind bars. The court is now trying to decide who gets custody of the child. Amazingly, the father of the boy, Royce Clyde Zeigler — also indicted in Riley’s murder, is refusing to relinquish his parental rights to the baby. Hey, you did that the moment you laid your hands on that little girl, you piece of shit.

Child Protective Services, which assumed emergency custody of the newborn Friday morning, must now ask a judge to revoke Zeigler’s parental rights at a hearing Monday in Houston, said Estella Olguin, a CPS spokeswoman.

The [adoptive] couple in Dallas have already undergone background checks, Olguin said, and CPS would attempt to interview them before Monday’s hearing so they can take immediate custody if the judge so orders.

If the judge does not end Zeigler’s parental rights, the child will be placed in foster care, she said. The judge could assign a child advocate to recommend the child’s best interest, Olguin said.

CPS would not have been involved had Zeigler signed the adoption papers, Olguin said.

A man and a woman in Greenwood, Nebraska were arrested for abusing their 4-month-old daughter.

The child had broken ribs, internal injuries, bruising, bite marks and burns over her entire body. The child’s mother, Melanie Powell, 28, of Greenwood, was interviewed and subsequently arrested for child abuse. A warrant was issued for the child’s father, Brian Bowder, 29, of Greenwood, resulting from his fleeing the county upon learning that law enforcement was investigating. He was arrested on Tuesday.

The infant remains in the care of Children’s Hospital and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Two siblings were removed from Powell’s care and placed in foster care via the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

NBC settles “Predator” lawsuit

Posted June 26th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.cnn.com

NBC has decided to settle a lawsuit brought by a woman who claimed that the “To Catch A Predator” show had caused her brother to kill himself after he was accused of inappropriate behavior. She was originally seeking $105 million.

Patricia Conradt’s lawsuit had claimed her brother, a suburban Dallas prosecutor, fatally shot himself after he was accused of engaging in a sexually explicit online chat with an adult posing as a 13-year-old boy.

The lawsuit claimed NBC “steamrolled” authorities to arrest Louis William Conradt Jr. after telling police he failed to show up at a sting operation 35 miles away.

NBC was working with the activist group Perverted Justice on the sting, in which people impersonating children established online chats with men and tried to lure them to a house, where they were met by TV cameras and police.

Corey Feldman sexually abused as child

Posted June 26th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.foxnews.com

Actor Corey Feldman has stated in a recent interview with GQ magazine that he was sexually abused as a child. And no, it wasn’t Michael Jackson that did it. Although that might explain why the pop star had such an interest in the young lad…

“The guy that did this to me was my assistant,” [Feldman] says.

Feldman goes on to say that he “was still a virgin at the time. I hadn’t even had sex with a girl. So for me it was just kind of bewildering. Despite what people think, I was actually very innocent and very naive at the time.”

345 arrested in child prostitution sting

Posted June 26th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.chicagotribune.com

21 children have been rescued from a child prostitution ring by the FBI, and hundreds of adults have been arrested. WOW.

The Justice Department says it targeted 16 cities as part of its “Operation Cross Country” that caps off five years of similar stings nationwide.

Many of the children forced into prostitution are either runaways or what authorities call “thrown-aways” — kids whose families have shunned them. Officials say they are preyed upon by organized networks of pimps who lure them in with shelter or drugs, then often beat, starve or otherwise abuse them until the children agree to work the streets.

“We together have no higher calling than to protect our children and to safeguard their innocence,” FBI Director Robert Mueller said Wednesday. “Yet the sex trafficking of children remains one of the most violent and unforgivable crimes in this country.”

The child suffered caustic chemical burns to his throat and stomach and first-degree burns to his face, Watanabe said.

The boy was released from the hospital the next day, but was hospitalized again May 28 for severe vomiting, altered consciousness and seizures.

Third person to go on trial for child sex shows

Posted June 23rd, 2008 by minortopics | via www.cnn.com

A third person is set to go on trial in a sick case where children as young as five were given “silly pills” and made to perform sex shows.

Patrick Kelly, 41, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, tampering with physical evidence and engaging in organized criminal activity.

In all, six adults have been charged in connection with the case, including a parent of the three siblings involved.

Jurors this year deliberated less than five minutes before returning guilty verdicts against the first two defendants, who were accused of grooming the kids for sex shows in “kindergarten” classes and passing off Vicodin as “silly pills” to help the children perform.

Jamie Pittman and Shauntel Mayo were sentenced to life in prison. Kelly also faces a life sentence if convicted, and Smith County prosecutors hope for another swift verdict.

Special Education teacher suffocates Autistic boy

Posted June 20th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.canada.com

At only 9 years old, an Autistic boy was punished so severely by his teacher, he ultimately died.

Wrapped up so tightly in a blanket, he suffocated. While the parents plan to sue the school (as well as they should!), I hope the teacher faces criminal charges, although it is Canada, so it’s highly unlikely.

RIP little Gabriel.

In the early afternoon of April 17, Gabriel began to disturb his classmates at École Marie Rivier in St. Jean sur Richelieu with loud noises. The school specializes in teaching children with developmental difficulties.

His teachers gave him two warnings to calm down. When Gabriel continued to misbehave, one teacher took him to the corner of the classroom and rolled him in a weighted blanket, which is sometimes used to calm autistic children.

The heavy blanket was tightly wrapped around the 3-foot, 11-inch Gabriel at least four times, pinning his arms to his sides, the coroner’s report said. With only the tips of his toes peeking out, the boy was left on his stomach, his head completely covered, for more than 20 minutes.

Gabriel eventually stopped making noise. The teacher went to check on him, turning him on his back. The boy appeared “listless and blue in the face,” the coroner’s report said.

Unthinkable child abuse - skinning boy alive; proof of pure evil

Posted June 20th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.news.com.au

MT finds it hard to acknowledge this kind of abuse. If the devil really does exist, it lives on earth in the form of a woman named Kalra Mauerova…

WARNING: GRAPHIC CHILD ABUSE DETAILS BELOW

A MOTHER is accused of partially skinning her caged son and feeding it to relatives.

Kalra Mauerova, 31, of Brno in the Czech Republic, wept in court as she admitted torturing her son Ondrej, and his ten-year-old brother, Jakub, The Sun reported.

Ms Mauerova, a member of the Grail Movement cult, caged Ondrej for months while relatives, also members of the cult, ate his raw flesh, a judge heard yesterday.

The court in Brno heard the family sexually abused the boys and made them cut themselves with knives.

The boys said they were kept in cages or handcuffed to tables and made to stand for days in their own urine.

Baby left in hot car survives

Posted June 20th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.sltrib.com

An infant left in a car for 2 hours on a 90 degree day has somehow survived, although he is in critical condition. The mother says she “forgot” the child was in the car. We can see accidentally leaving your dog out in the yard, but forgetting your baby out in the hot sun? How scatterbrained do you have to be?

Given the length of time the boy spent in the vehicle and the scorching temperatures inside the car, it’s remarkable the 5-month-old boy didn’t die in Tuesday’s incident, said Jan Null, a meteorologist and adjunct professor at San Francisco State University who studies the trend of hyperthermia deaths of children in vehicles.

“That amount of time on a 90-degree day, temperatures after the first hour are going to be at 130 degrees in the car,” Null said.

“I’m surprised the child did not die. Maybe the child was well-hydrated. There’s a lot of variables that we don’t know.”

The vehicle was parked in a driveway in direct sunlight. Null said body cells and organs start dying at about 107 degrees. In researching cases where children are left in hot cars, he has noticed that many suffer brain damage if they survive the incident.

Man who beat toddler to death identified

Posted June 17th, 2008 by minortopics | via www.cnn.com

The man who was shot by police when he refused to stop brutally beating a toddler has been identified as Sergio Casian Aguilar. The child is believed to be his son.

Sergio Casian Aguilar, 27, parked his truck on an unlit road Saturday night, removed a 2-year-old boy from his car seat and proceeded to stomp, kick and punch the boy to death, authorities said. The boy was unrecognizable when he was pronounced dead at Emanuel Medical Center, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department said.

Authorities have not released the boy’s name but say they believe he was Aguilar’s son. The Stanislaus County coroner and the California Department of Justice are testing DNA to confirm the relationship.

Several motorists called 911 and tried to stop the beating, authorities said.
