A newborn baby boy was rescued in China over the weekend, after he was allegedly flushed down the toilet in what police believe was an attempt to kill the bay who was only a few days old.
The infant miraculously survived after a neighbor heard his cries coming from the pipes at an apartment complex where the incident happened on Saturday.
According to NBC News, firefighters saw the baby inside toilet but he was too far down the pipe to be pulled out. Firefighters had to cut the pipe on the floor below to free him. At the time of the rescue, the infant was having difficulty breathing and had numerous bruises, but doctors say his prognosis is good now that he has been stabilized at a local hospital.
Numerous Good Samaritans have stepped forward through social media, in and around Jinhua City, Zehijiang providence, China, offering to adopt the baby boy.
Jinhua City police believe they have located the infant’s parents and say they plan on charging the couple with attempted murder.
Abandonment of newborn infants is reportedly not uncommon in China due to their one-child per couple policy.
