A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition on Monday after nearly drowning at Disney World’s Pop Century resort over the weekend.
The unidentified teen was reportedly vacationing at his family from Missouri at the resort in Disney World when he start struggling in the resort’s pool.
The boy was apparently playing with relatives in the pool when a family noticed he had not been seen in an undetermined amount of time. Family members believe the boy went unnoticed for several minutes.
A cousin of the victim reportedly found the boy underwater and pulled him out of the pool. The boy’s father immediately started CPR and the boy was rushed to Celebration Hospital and is now in critical condition.
Relatives say that prior to the victim struggling in the water, he was seen jumping and laughing in the pool around 9 P.M. on Sunday night.
Disney officials released the following statement on Monday about the incident:
“Our concern is for the young man and his family. We’ve reached out to the family to offer our assistance and support.”
