A 14-month old Walworth, Wisc. boy is dead on Thursday after he was attacked by a pair of pit bull dogs at his babysitter’s apartment.
The boy’s babysitter, Susan Iwicki, 30, called police to report that she and the youngster, Dax, were being attacked by two pit bulls belonging to Iwicki. The attack occurred around 1 pm on Wednesday.
The toddler succumbed to critical injuries after he was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital and then transported via Flight For Life to a Milwaukee hospital.
The dogs were removed from the property and later euthanized.
According to NBC News, a neighbor said that Iwicki had the dogs since they were puppies and appeared to be well behaved.
The upscale neighborhood where the attack took place has been described as a quiet, summer home community. A family friend, Valerie Brylow told an NBC affiliate that Dax was “a great little boy” who had the “biggest eyes, great smile.”
Prosecutors are looking into whether or not the babysitter will be charged for a crime.
