A Sacramento, Calif. mother planning to celebrate the New Year by using cocaine, instead celebrated the New Year in the Sacramento County Jail. Kimberly Simmons, 33, and boyfriend Terrell Bolton, 46, were arrested Sunday and charged with felony cocaine sales and child endangerment.
Simmons told CBS13, “I don’t run a drug house, I’m not even a user like that. It was New Year’s Eve, you know what I am saying, so I did have a little bit because I was going to indulge for the New Year.”
Authorities have not stated why they were at Simmon’s house, but Sacramento Police Officer Michele Gigante said, “The children had access to the cocaine. That’s why we took the children into protective custody.”
Simmons is now determined to reunite her family and is vowing that she will never make this mistake again. “People make mistakes, but the thing is learning from them. As long as there is breath in my body, I will get my kids back when I get out of here.”
Simmons also has a warning for other parents who use drugs, “It’s never worth it, never worth losing your children.”
