Hashtag Jameson, real baby or not? Photo via Facebook.
A mother, who claims to have named her baby “Hashtag” after her love for Twitter, has garnered some unfavorable publicity and criticism after she set up a Facebook page on Tuesday, introducing Hashtag Jameson to the world.
On the Facebook page, the mom wrote, “Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last night. She weys 8pounds and i luv her so much!!!!!!”
The page has already been buzzing with hundreds of comments, condemning the mother while also boasting 20 “likes” at the time of this posting. Some commenters called for the baby to be taken away and called the mother “sick”.
Although the mom chose to introduce Hashtag on Facebook instead of Twitter, news of the odd name choice went viral and spawned thousands of tweets on Twitter with real hashtags denouncing the act.
Some resulting hash tags were #StupidestNameEver and #YourParentsHateYou.
Of course, the baby and its name has yet to be confirmed as real. The whole thing could be a giant lesson in viral social media or a prank or a hoax. Real or not, the name has sent the Internet aflutter.
