Bill Nye the science guy does want creationism to cloud our children’s senses.

Bill Nye the science guy is offering up parental advice in a new video called “Creationism Is Not Appropriate for Children”. Nye, best known for his children’s show on science, “Bill Bye the Science Guy”, says parents and grownups need to get with the program and stop shoving creationism down kids throats and supporting scientific evidence.

Nye says in his new video, “If you want to deny evolution and live in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we’ve observed in the universe that’s fine. But don’t make your kids do it.”

Nye has been outspoken about his belief in evolution as fact and that creationism is based on unsupported beliefs. He is now asking parents to refrain from teaching their children about creationism. He believes the propagation of creationsim denounces science, preventing Americans from moving forward with new innovation. Nye also believes  scientific evidence supports the theory that humans evolved from an entry level species and organism into what we are today.

Nye calls the teaching of evolution a “fundamental idea in all of life science, in all of biology”. He says without a true understanding of science and evolution, children will not aspire to evidence based answers.

While the Supreme Court struck down the public school’s creationism theory teachings as mandatory curriculum in 1987, some states have found a way around the ruling to allow teachers to discuss what they see as “holes” in evolution.

Nye is speaking out against this muddling of religious beliefs and scientific literacy. He thinks the two need to be understood for what they are or the future of America and it’s voting population could lead us down a very unfortunate path.
