An ice-cream truck driver, Omar Kareem Sellers, 39, was arrested late Thursday night in Garner, North Carolina after police responded to a missing child report and found the missing teen, 14-years-old, with Sellers several blocks from her disappearance. The teens parents called police after the girl failed to come around 9 pm on Thursday.
The police report revealed that the teen was with a group of friends who were all talking to Sellers outside his ice cream truck. Witnesses told police that Sellers offered the girl money to help him sell ice cream during the rest of his route. The girl reportedly accepted the offer voluntarily.
Police found Sellers and the teen several blocks away, around 11 pm, near an elementary school.
After the Garner police interviewed the teen and Sellers, they arrested Sellers for several crimes against a minor.
Sellers has since been charged with statutory rape, felony kidnapping and indecent liberties with a minor. Police say there is no indication that the girl was being held against her will or that Sellers used any kind of force or violence to confine the girl.
